I get that. Not downhill, not a highway, my commute to and from work, this is the usual, was just making a point.

Are you using S mode and ETC? Because 6th is a nogo for towing. Due to the added drag of a trailer, not hitting 6th is not surprising.

Only get the TSB done if you are having symptoms that match the TSB.

This describes my experience as well. I live on a big hill and find the transmission continuously hunts for the right gear. I pretty much always keep ECT on for better throttle response and less shifting. Had service done today and they “updated software” for me. (Not called T-SB-0062-18 in Canada). I’m hoping I get the same results as most posting here.

ok what's all the talk about TSB, I know what it is but is this something I subscribe and pay for?, I have a few issues with my new 18 Tacoma, vibration on my hood and also when decelerating a vibration at 20 mph, hunting for the right gear, I read other talking about the same issues, is there a web site to check for TSB?

Toyota Service Bulletin, it's from Toyota for service departments/dealers to address common concerns for vehicles. The one being discussed here is for the transmission gear hunting/hesitation. Think this is the 2nd or 3rd one for this issue. There are others such as the plugs for the lower control arms that whistle (2016s), etc.

Simply talk to your service advisor about your issue(s), I'd mention /reference the TSB as many are uniformed, they will either agree to perform them or try to "replicate the issue" and then perform. Covered under your warranty. As far as your mentioned issues, there is a hood glue TSB for the vibrating hoods as you mentioned, is the vibration in your brake pedal? there's a TSB for that too and of course the transmission one for your gear hunting.

FYI your sig has tacoma spelled wrong ;)

I have 39,000 miles and no extended warranty. I wonder if the TSB would be at not cost for me?

I wouldn't fret, Toyota has no problem selling thousands of new Taco's every month, majority of them happy with their trucks, one angry dude with a pitch fork won't do much.

You would be covered. As stated on the T-SB 0058-18 and 0062-18, the update falls under the 80,000 mile federal emissions warranty.
