I'm getting ready to install an anytime camera feature, and I need to free up a spot in the lower switch panel to accommodate the switch.

I'm thinking of making sure the Blind Spot Monitor switch is on and tucking it into the dash (making it inaccessible). Is there any reason it would need to be turned off?

For example, I need to turn off the parking assist (rear alert) whenever I have a trailer attached to the truck or it beeps constantly. I just haven't found a case where I need to turn off the BSM.

Well, try it out and see. You're just tucking it away, not cutting anything so if you change your mind, it's easily undone!

I did that 3 months ago. Have never thought about it or had a reason to dig the switch back out since then.

I've gotten warnings in my center dash screen before that said my BSM was inactive/not working. Turning it off & then on again would fix it. Weird, stupid thing that I used to see occasionally but probably not in the last year or so.

Yeah, I'm having issues with the BSM going on/off on it's own......If you can move it to where you can operate it without moving too much, I would. I'm having to turn mine on/off..

It goes into a beeping mode sometimes.....gotta turn it off.

    Good luck

I've turned mine off before. Got ice and mud stuck that set it off constantly until it got washed on both occasions

I did the anytime camera mod that ran off double clicking the menu button then is controlled by the arrows on the wheel for the menu

Yes, if you have a trailer you need to turn it off, or it’ll constantly beep at you in reverse and sometimes constantly think someone is in your blind spot while driving. (The latter will depend on size / location of trailer).

Has anyone added BSM camera to the passenger side mirror? Did you use a kit? Brand?

Was wanting to do this as well for the same reason and looking for an extension harness to move the BSM switch to the left of the steering wheel. Just makes sense to be closer to the side mirrors IMO. Sent a few messages out to custom guys but so far nothing has panned out. The anytime switch kit wiring really isn't long enough to run to the left of the steering wheel anyway. Was a total bitch to install over there.

Are there any other yodas that have mirror mounted cameras, maybe a 4runner? I was thinking of using the input on the jbl unit for the front camera since i have no front camera, use the input for adding a bsm cam.

On my 2017 Tacoma I kept BSM off after about 3 years because it stopped working and cost more to fix than I thought the feature was worth.
