    If you go to crater lake take the boat tour! It’s the coolest thing there! You really get to see the lake up close while a ranger explains the geology. Otherwise you just drive the loop road around it and say “there it is”.

    There’s also a good 15-20’ cliff by the boat dock you can jump off into the lake.

    Rooster rock is not named that because it looks like a chicken... I'm a big fan of pretty much anything around the Columbia River though.

    Oregon is such a vast and magnificent place its hard to put my finger on just a few spots. I live here and I'm still blown away by all the cool spots I can hit within a 2hr drive. Anyway I'll throw in my recommendations;

    For sand and beach offroading: Florence Sand Dunes, Florence, OR

    Exploring/hiking: Three Sister's Wilderness Area near Bend, OR

    High desert: Alvord Desert, OR

    I'd also like to recommend tide pooling at Yachats or Yaquina Head and the Sea Lion Caves on the Oregon Coast. If you're cruising along the 101 you'll be able to hit all three spots in the same day. If you make it as far north as Portland you can also check out Cannon Beach where Haystack Rock is located.

    We loved the Cape Perpetua area along Hwy. 101. Last year we stayed in Yachats and the Mazanita area and further south in Bandon. Just amazing sea stack beaches and great views. We did not really go inland though.

    2nd vote for the dunes area - Honeyman State Park is one of the few state parks I can tolerate staying in.

    Maybe too late to chime in but...If Crater Lake and you’re coming from the West, you could take in Silver Falls, Sisters, and Bend first. Then on your way to the crater, I would recommend the Lava River Caves which are amazing. They are in the Deschutes National Forest. Call first though due to Covid. The Oregon Caves are spectacular as well. If you like the beach...Gold Beach, Coos Bay, Depot Bay, Florence, Astoria, and Lincoln City...or all of them while traveling Hwy 101.

    Tied several boat anchors to my truck to destroy MPG.
    I'm headed down tomorrow night to Eastern Oregon, will be going to the Painted Hills and then I want to go fish over the Wallowa and check out that area.
    Any good stops in between to check out?
