Going to the dealer today to "order" another Tacoma. Was thinking of getting an AC for the long bed and shorter turning radius but starting thinking of a DCSB with the multi-terrain monitor. Do any of you with SBs wish you got the long bed instead? Is the 360 camera on the Tacoma worth it? The overhead view seems pretty small looking at videos of it?

    Oh look, another mod....
I have a double cab short bed, with the multi-terrain/overhead view camera and love it. The camera really helps me see those spots/angles I can't see when backing up. As far as the bed goes: I barely use it (so far). I have a tonneau cover on mine. In the 8 months that I have owned it, I've used the bed...3 times?

For me, I wanted Double Cab and Manual transmission. So that meant 5 foot box. I have had various loads in the back, Lumber, bikes, appliances, camping gear... anytime that I thought a 6 foot box would be nice quickly disappeared because what I had in the box wouldn't have fit a 6 foot box either. So in the grand scheme of things for me, a 5 foot box is perfect.

5' Is perfect for us. We needed a truck, but not a full size. That and a 6' wouldnt fit in our garage.

you already pay so much, in many times overpay for a tacoma as it, taxes , why would you want less for more?

DCLB here, and glad for it!
From a utility and multi-purpose standpoint, this truck has the capability of being like a swiss army knife. I periodically use my truck to do "truck things"; it's not a dedicated off-road or overland rig (but it can do those things too). In my 5 years of ownership, not having a 6-foot bed would've been a limiting factor.

Garage space played a big factor in my 5' decision but also it was they only thing I could get. For all of what i've hauled so far the extra foot wouldn't have made any difference.

My 5 footer is great for house hauling, camping gear, range gear etc, and I pack heavy. I do have a little trailer that's nice as heavy items don't have to be lifted nearly as high, or I can drag shit in there and scratch the boards, but hardly use that, it's parked at my brother's.
I can run up to my office that's 5 minutes away and grab a full size if need it, but can't remember the last time I did.

I've used mine for gardening supplies at Lowe's...works fine for me!

I am thinking about a Overland Bed Rack instead of a tonneau cover...my first exterior accessory choice is the Prinsu Access Rack.

Thanks for all the great replies. Seems like a split decision. LOL. Any significant payload differences between the DCLB and DCSB? The numbers Toyota gives out seems quite a bit better than what's on the stickers.

DCSB. Does what I need. Occasionally need to leave the tailgate down, but I carry a red flag for when its needed.

I have the ORDC with the short bed and I can't fit my dirt bike with the tailgate closed no matter how I try. Not a big deal however makes life difficult when towing our travel trailer and taking the bike along. Probably would go long bed if I had a do-over.

5 foot bed has been solid for me. I probably use it about once a month but its never been an issue

I had a DCSB 2nd gen and much prefer the longer bed and smaller cab of my ACLB 3rd gen. The backseats on the double cab were rarely used for anything more than tossing stuff in or taking my dog with me so the smaller access cab makes no difference. The longer bed isn't much more but it is definitely noticeable and better.

I don't regret my 5' bed, then again, I have an F250 with an 8' bed parked next to it. That being said, I'm not sure that a 6' bed would really be a huge upgrade over the 5'.

Are you an owner that actually uses your bed? If so, the long bed is the way to go.

Double cab short bed here. There have been many times that the long bed would have been a huge help. The short bed has made some tasks a pain simply due to the lack of space.

The long bed can do all the short bed work, the short bed cannot do all long bed work.
