No regrets here either. My 5’ bed does the job and still fits in the garage. Great to have that option

No regerts at all. I knew what I needed though. I would benefit more from the extra cab space (and have) compared to an extra foot of bed space. Best of both world - Long wheel base, not worth it for me. Only need an extra inch or two at the most (heh) if I wanted to have my MTB straight, instead I just have the back wheel move a few inches to the side and I'm good to rocket.

Long of the short - zero regrets on the short bed. But I am not sleeping back there, I am not hauling a 29er MTB.

Check out my build thread in my signature though. If I WASN'T sleeping in the cab, I think I would be in an access cab 4 banger instead, but that's because I'd levitate toward that 2.7 versus want the extra bed space. But it comes down to what you use it for and what you need.

There are plenty of mods for front facing cameras and anytime rear view access. And doing those DIY will be MUCH cheaper than changing the entire platform just for them, especially if they aren't as useful as you hoped.

The biggest advantage a Tacoma has compared to a 1/2 ton is the small size which makes it more maneuverable. The biggest disadvantage a Tacoma has compared to a 1/2 ton is the small size which limits towing and hauling. Anymore the cost of the trucks and fuel mileage is virtually the same.

The DCLB trucks are within a couple of inches of the same length as a comparable 1/2 ton truck eliminating The Tacoma's only advantage. If doing that you might as well get a 1/2 ton extended cab. The rear seat room is actually bigger, you get a 6.5' bed that is both wider and deeper. You get basically twice the towing and payload rating. All in the same overall size truck.

I can easily haul a 10' kayak or 10' lumber in my 5' bed. The 6' bed isn't enough bigger to handle the next size up, 12'.

Well just got back from the dealer and put a deposit down for an OR AC so just have to wait and see what they get in. Sounds like nowadays they just get an allotment from Toyota of whatever they want to send and can't put in specific orders.

Your math skills don't add up. You can carry 10' material in a 5' bed, but can't carry 12' material in a 6' bed?

Spoiler, you actually CAN carry 12' materials in a 6' bed.

These types of threads are fun, but kinda pointless, especially if the person responding hasn't owned both (we all want to justify our purchases). Even so, it depends on what you're using it for. I'm a woodworker hobbyist and haven't had any trouble picking up supplies that I wouldn't have with a 6' because my materials are usually longer than 6'. If I were a professional woodworker, I 100% would own a full-size pickup. Until that happens, I'll "suffer" through the minor inconvenience to have a truck that meets 99% of my needs and with a smaller wheel base.

If I wasn't planning on kids in the near future I would have gone ACLB. More than 2 people using the truck means the extra "real" doors in the rear will be more useful in the future.

The extra bed space with the ACLB enables a few cool things, like using the truck bed as a sleeping area. The decision was very difficult for me, both ACLB and DCSB have their advantages.

The Tacoma is the longest and widest vehicle I've ever owned. The 5' bed is 5' longer than I've had on any other vehicle. :D It has worked well for me so far...

I did think about the 6' bed option - More of a head scratch as I figured the options available on the Tacoma... (I'd never seen a Tacoma before...). I was looking for the Double cab. The 6' bed just makes the Tacoma too long... But since the 6' bed is not available with a manual - I never had a second thought about considering the longer bed again.

The DCSB is long enough and keeps it nimble. I would not go with the long bed if I were to do over...

IMO the 360 camera is kind of a gimmick. A buddy of mine has it and he says that hes only used it a handful of times.
Can’t really say much about the long bed cause i got a short bed but, I got no problems with any sort of visibility or turning radius!

Kinda. The more windy nights I spend sleeping in my RTT, the more I wish that I had a bed long enough to put a cap on and sleep in.

Short of sleeping in it, I don't think there's much of a difference. If you're hauling stuff, if it's too long to fit in a 5ft bed it'll probably be too long to fit in a 6ft bed.

Nope no regrets here 5ft with double cab works for me . I drove a ac wasn’t enough room for me I like the space in the back and have no use for 6ft bed . If you plan to sleep back there 6ft is the way to go .

If you got a DCLB, you should have just bought a full size truck.
DCSB is what the Tacoma was meant to be.

No regrets on my 5’. I also like the depth on the sides of the bed are deeper and holds things more securely. I’ve got bikes, camping gear and gravel in there just fine. If I wanted to do large home owner projects or move big items I’d get a small utility trailer to pull behind anyways. In town and on trails I appreciate the better turn radius and getting in and out of tight places easier. Obv there’s pros and cons to both and I had a 6’ bed on my previous Tacoma. For me the best part of that was throwing on a canopy and being able to camp/sleep in my truck. If you wanna truck camp get the long bed for sure. If not I think you’ll be fine with the 5

I use mine all the time, but it absolutely leaves something to be desired regarding clarity. My wife’s base rav4 blows it out of the water.
