No regrets! This is my third Tacoma and my fourth Toyota. First one was a 96 followed by a 07 Followed by a 2017. I expect my 2017 to hold up to just as well if not better then my prior Taco’s. Looking forward to wheeling and adventuring. All of my trucks went over 200,000 miles with no problems.

Nope. Sold my 2003 DCSB TRDOR with 270,000+ miles for $6500 and bought a 2017 DCLB TRDOR. While the new truck has a learning curve, I wouldn’t go back and there isn’t another truck on the market that makes me regret my decision.

Actually, I have one regret. I regret that I don’t have more $ for mods. That’s the nice thing about Tacomas, if there is something I’m not 100% happy with, there is a mod to dial it in. Watching the OV tune closely these days. That and T4R pro wheels, new tires, sliders, skids, etc... I could drop $5k tomorrow if money grew on a tree in my basement under fancy lights...

Have owned an '87 4Runner, a 2001 SR5 access cab, a 2007 SR5 DC LB, and now a 2017 TRD Sport DCLB. The only one I had problems with and was eager to get out of was the 2001. May have been a lemon and it was the only one of the group I bought used (1 year old); too many problems started cropping up after 60K miles. Loved the 2007 and so far so good with the 2017.

I like all the amenities I got with the 2017, although could get by without the sunroof and power sliding rear window. In retrospect and if Toyota made it, I would have gone with an access cab and short bed in 2017. I'm not pleased that my Gen. 3 truck is 4" longer than the Gen. 2. My 2017 DCLB can be a little awkward, because of its length, in town. And, the full rear seat is better suited to those who are 5'8" or shorter, than my 6' or 6'+ friends, none of whom want the rear seat on the drive to the golf course.

    First World problems . . .

I don't regret the TRD OR 6MT one bit. If you read this forum at all you will wonder if you are nucking futz for liking it but it's better than all the previous Tacoma versions and the 1st gen Tundra too by my experience. It hauls my dirt bikes easily, piles of firewood, mulch, pulls my 6200lb boat/trailer combo thru the hills, pulls the race car on a 20' open trailer, gets groceries, camps pretty far into nowhere, hauls the kids and I skiing in any weather, makes quick work of PA mud and snow... and drives/rides like a dream compared to most body on frame trucks. Even some cars.

So, yeah, no regrets. In fact, I'm pretty stoked about it.

My 2004 had a small cab and was rough riding with terrible cornering. So I don't miss it at all.

Spend a few more $$$ and get a new truck.

You have a truck you like and it is the end of the model year. You are in an excellent position to wheel and deal.

100% no regrets with my 2016. No problems either. My 19 year old truck ( original owner) unexpectedly crapped out in the middle of February 2016, and I bought the only new Tacoma on the lot. Didn't have much time to research and getting the best deal was not a top priority.

If you decide to be more of a "tire kicker" I believe you can really make a great deal. I also have read rumors of deals from Toyota Corp. on the 2017's.

Good luck whatever you decide, and test drive that bitch till the dealer screams for mercy...lol

It's apples to oranges, so don't get hung up on "regrets." You're giving up some qualities/attributes of the first gen but also gaining a lot of improvements, capabilities, etc of the third gen.

That seems a little high, but I don't know the taxes and other crap fees they stuck you with. Compare that to what you can get a new one for. That's a bunch of miles on a 17, and I would question why the original owner got rid of it.
Link to what my deal was when I bought mine new, which was ordered from the factory to my specs.

My truck has been flawless @ 30,000 miles.

Only regret is not buying it sooner, and I have a 2016 ;)
