Hey people. Here from Wpg, Mb Canada. Been thinking about it for awhile and gonna be trading in my ‘15 Sierra for a ‘18 Tacoma dblcab lb upgrade. Has anyone else went from a full-size to a taco? Any regrets? Pros, cons? Thx in advance!

I had a 2004 Tundra. I basically have the same size bed but I can’t haul as much weight. The Tundra had more power but drank the gas. I enjoy the handling and the size of the Tacoma. I haven’t regretted it for a second.

I went from a 2011 F150 Crew Cab/SB to a 2018 TRD Sport Tacoma DCSB. The Tacoma is awesome since I knew I didn't need the larger truck anymore. Also my F150 was only getting like 13.5mpg and when I towed my boat was about 9.6mpg. The tacoma is getting about 20mpg and with towing about 16.5mpg. Have about the same towing capacity with it. The tacoma just has all the added safety features that the F150 didn't have. I don't regret it at all.

I have owned 3 full size Chevy pickups. Owned a 4 Runner before my Tacoma. Biggest pro over full size pickup - gas mileage.

Plenty of folks have gone both ways.

Biggest talking points for the subject seems to be back seat space and tow capacity, followed by MPG and maneuverability.

Only you can decide what you need.

I do recommend taking extended test drives, not just getting overwhelmed by that new car smell and shiny trinkets and gizmos to play with.

Thx for the replies, keep em coming. I too have owned full size all my life but now owning a cottage and living in a condo, parking is a issue with the big truck. As for hauling stuff, I have trailers for that.

Also with the dblcab model, it seems to have more back seat space than my Sierra dblcab has.

But you have to drag the trailer.

Make sure what you pick can do that comfortably. Tacomas can, to a point. Then the big truck takes over.

Maybe, can't say. But I'd use a tape measure, as it doesn't seem logical.

It 100% does have more space. I traded in a 2017 Sierra because I couldn’t stand the truck overAll. But I have three car seats in the back and way more space in tacoma double cab than the Sierra double cab.

Only regret is I didn’t go ahead and get the premium package with the sunroof. OverAll tacoma is my favorite truck. I also have a 2013 tundra double cab and while it is a bad ass truck if you don’t need the size the tacoma is just perfect.

I Traded my 2012 Tundra Crewcab with all the bells and whistles for my 16 Tacoma. The Tundra was the best truck I have ever owned, but I found myself not needing all that towing power and the gas mileage not being too good. I really wasn't even thinking about trading until I saw the new Tacomas and was immediately hooked on the looks alone. I have to admit that it did take some getting used to the differences between the two trucks. I test drove three times in two Off Road versions to make sure that's what I wanted. The truck that I finally bought has not had any of the problems you read about on here. I have had a ton of compliments on my Tacoma and enjoy every time I get to drive it. Please test drive the truck you want, go over every detail and take your time so you won't wind up on here like some others bashing Toyota.

For me it’s not working out. I’m going to be selling my Tacoma in a month or two and move into a full size.

The taco is a wonderful vehicle and I haven’t had any issues with it. However it’s too small for my needs that I now have. The interior is too small for the family.
