any rubber steering rack bushings?

The Dorman 535-417 that were available a month ago appear to be discontinued. Rockauto lists nothing compatible with 2wd.

Are there any other rubber alternatives? There are no OEM ones I can find, but Toyota's new parts software on their sites is useless to even try to search in.

I'm avoiding urethane because of what I've heard about the harder ride and my bad experience trying a urethane transmission mount.

 

Finding Toyota bushings for that old of a Truck would take lots of luck!

Worse case buy rubber round stock and make your own.

Good industrial suppliers can have what you need.

even tho I had to surgically modify.....

TRW rubber kit is what you're after... MADE IN THE USA part# JBU1005 sku # 47963 01756 on Amazon review says thermoplastic,
it is not POLY It is a modern rubber material.

That doesn't fit the 3.4L 2wd Tacoma.

 

In a larger image of that, polyurethane is legible on the box, not prothane.

 

They don't have any for my type of Tacoma.

 

You might be stuck having to use polyurethane, o'reillys shows a couple sets for 2wd.

The rack bushings aren't going to be something you'll really feel in the suspension

 

Honestly poly rack bushings are probably the least likely poly bushings to cause you problems. Leaf spring bushings being the most. I'd grab some energy suspension bushings for my rack any day

These are best your can get .....the energy suspension ones are harder...

not a big fan of natural rubber that rides a few inches above the road....

 

Update, these don't fit. My steering rack is 50mm, and the Superpro D bushing is about 56mm ID. However they are softer than I initially expected, so that's good, no need for rubber.

prothane.com does not list these for my truck.

I'm going to try the ebay ones next that O'Silver Taco recommended.

Basically here's what I'm working with. There is only the passenger side D bushing with a 14mm bolt, and the driver side bushing(s) on a vertical 19mm bolt.

I had to modify the blue prothane set....for the large....it was also too big...

and the vertical one was too tall.......sliced them down and never looked back...

I had to burn out and reuse the center metal bushing on the vertical one...
