Any special tools a person may need? I have regular hand tools but I’m talking about tools specific to Toyota/Tacoma’s.

Oil filter wrench is about it. Rest is all standard stuff / not Tacoma specific (depending on the Size of your tool kit).
If you get into the electronics, then techstream is specific to Toyota but the cable needed is very generic.

Thanks everyone. Bought my tacoma last week and looks like I will need a oil filter wrench then.

the most popular size nut/bolt is a 10mm, followed by 12mm. have those wrenches and sockets in your toolbox and you can take apart almost anything on it

Calipers are -- 16mm? 17? Depends what your level of DIY is.

Disc/Drum removal tools - I'd get them, you'll be happy having them long term.

Jack stands/floor jack that works with your truck - I've learned this the hard way, I have everything for my old mazda. 2 ton small floor jack and 2x 2ton jack stands and 2x 3ton jack stands, none of which is tall enough to get the truck unsprung. o_O

Personal preference, I hate the lug wrench that comes with the truck - I have a x wrench with 4 sizes on it, allows me to give even torque rather than offset which leads to stripping.

And again depending on your level of DIY, a torque wrench from HF is good enough, mine has lasted me what I've needed a TQ wrench for.

    8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm, 21mm, 35mm - should handle 95% of the stuff on the truck.
Oh and the oil filter cap wrench.
I think stock lugs are 21mm or 22mm.
