Assuming that this is a Starlink Satellite. Exposure was too long so I started to get star trails. The jiggle at the right of the satellite trail is when I touched the shutter to stop the photo… I initially saw it much further to the left of the photo while viewing through my telescope. Had to rush to get the photo, was lucky to capture it!~ upload_2023-1-9_21-1-57.jpg

It's difficult to know what that is crossing the frame. It's almost too bright to be a Starlink satellite. If you use any of the astro apps, like StarWalk or Stellarium, you could use them to tell you what was overhead at your location.

Also, if you are using a camera, the rule of 500 will help you set a better exposure.

Thanks, I took the picture with an iPhone.... Just getting back to a little observing after many years off, so I'm a rank amateur.

I caught a semi-OK shot of the comet this past weekend with my camera. My Move-Shoot-Move Rotator struggles with the weight of my camera plus a zoom lens, but I got what I could with a small amount of movement in the stars.

Taken with an Olympus OM-D EM-1 MKIII with an Olympus f/2.8 at 150mm

I'm going to try and get a better shot of it tonight, I've got my larger tripod this time, and I'm hoping to get a more solid spot on stone to keep it from moving at all. This was taken from my back yard with my lightweight travel tripod on gravel.

Dusting off my vintage SCT for the event... lame compared to some of the observatories in here but love her nevertheless :)

This is what I'm using to get photos of the stars, it's no fancy setup like I'm seeing in this post, but it's next on my list of things to add to the house here.

Thanks, I saw that thread last night and need to post. I also have the International Space Station but it hasn't been put together yet, I don't have a good shelf to put it on at the moment.
