Yeah, it's kinda steep. I'm sure a search of YT would find some informative videos. Legit ones....

You don't need the AP to tell you how to shoot. There are many YT channels with similar and free information.

Here's the simple instructions. If you do not have adequate filters, do not bother trying. You can find filters at almost any of the popular astro supply places or B&H photo.

View to the South of the Black Point ruin in Narragansett, RI. The Orion Nebula is nice and clear as it was <20 degrees. Also caught a meteor, I saw it but wasn't sure if it would show up in my photo:

Flame and Horse Head nebulae. This represents approximately 5 hours of integration over several nights. My location has a relatively short imaging window due to trees. Stacked tiff images from several nights were then stacked to get this:

Man, I wish I had a yard like Trever Jones (Astrobackyard.com)! He recently released a review of the new Askar 185 APO. His reviews are usually pretty good. Maybe not as technical as some would like but his approach is geared toward making astronomy accessible.

If you're just getting started or even familiar, have a look at some of the videos he has.

Coincidentally, I watched that video this morning. I'll never have that type of scope.... :)

I have mentioned the iTelescope Webinars in the past and this week, the topic is The Quiet Giants: Unveiling Stellar Evolution. These are usually on Fridays starting at 10am PST to around 11am or 1800 UTC. Sometimes, guests will stick around and answer questions.

This one will be interesting. At the very least, keep an eye out for the YouTube replay.

Always loved to get a telescope. I never have even looked through one before and someone had one that saw Saturn, rings and all. How much would a telescope like that cost to see Saturn? lol. Or should I just stick to pictures :p

Now that the weather is starting to get better, it'd be fun to get out and do some observing.

You can get some decent scopes from recognized companies like Celestron, Meade, and others for a few hundred $.

    A good place to start:
