Lifted my truck and now my antenna is hitting the garage door when I go in and out. Anyone have a suggestion for a shorter antenna?

    Thanks in advance,
    Nick

Anybody have any of these? Do they negatively affect reception or are we just going for looks here...

These 9 dollar TRD antennas on Amazon have piss poor reviews.

Apparently the only thing they have going for them is that somebody screen printed the TRD logo onto them, otherwise they are worthless.

My antenna is scraping the garage door when I pull into it too, so this is relevant to my interests...

S2000 antenna. Shorter than stock and still allows radio reception. Oreillys and autozone carry shorter replacements but you either get looks and lose reception or vice versa.

It's going to sound like a broken record but...
Unscrew antenna from truck, pull off round tip using vice grips, cut antenna shorter (I did 5" to clear my garage door), glue & press tip back on to antenna, Re-install

I'll be grabbing the cutters from the machine shop here at work for a little lunchtime mod, then.
Later, I'll buy 10-20 bucks worth of beer and toast you guys. Thanks for the suggestions and saving this newb some funds!

Just used a vice and a hack saw on mine. No more SCRAAAAAAPPPPEEE! when I pull into the garage!
Now a much more manageable 23" inches. Cut 9" off.

(honestly, my radio reception is between shit and ass quality right now since I put my aftermarket HU in, so it probably makes no difference)

I like the antenna x 13" model. Cant comment on reception. I have never tuned am or fm on this truck. HD is useless in my area anyway.

I cut mine to be about 2" taller than the highest point on my truck. If my antenna hits something going into a garage, I know not to go in there.

I cut 5" off mine,it is still higher than the truck so it can act as a height gauge . Put a red plastic cap on , no more hitting the garage door.IMG_0509.jpg

Thanks all for the advice... Wasn't sure if cutting it would cause reception to suffer or not.
Anyone running an Antennax antenna? Just wondering if you noticed a difference or not. I use the AM/FM radio quite a bit.

    Thanks,
    Nick

I have the 21" Antennae x... it works fine. I definitely would not go any shorter. It is much heavier than the OEM antennae.I always check to make sure that it is tight.
