All my boards are shortboards, longest one being 5'10 so I'm able to fit them in the bed diagonally but for those who ride anything above a 6'0 how do you guys secure it assuming you dont have a camper/roof rack (I've taught a few chicks to surf pre tacoma) and need to get an 8 foot wavestorm on there for when the next lucky lady comes along

I've transported 8' kayaks before, either lay it down with the tailgate open and strap it down or leave the tailgate up, lay it on the tailgate, and strap it down

Just throw it in the back with tailgate up, for a wavvestorm you don't even need a towel much less a tailgate pad.

I take my 9ft longboard and even 10ft paddle board by just throwing them in the bed and letting the tail of the board stick out diagonally, just don't make any fast u-turns.

FCS tailgate pads work great...but a 7'2 is my shorty...I ride hi performance fun shapes and longboards

I look at things as risk/reward. A longboard costs $800+ for a new board and the cost of it flying out and hitting another car on a highway far exceeds that of a simple $35 thing you put on your tailgate.

Here’s my set up, I just let it hang over the tailgate.
the dakine has a strap and that thing won’t fly out. If you want to be extra secure just strap another one to the beds tie downs.

My 6'2 fits diagonally, I usually just throw my towel under the nose to protect it in the corner. I have a tonneau cover so I can usually fit that and everything smaller under the cover.
