Thought our experience might be pertinent. We're both in our 70s. We just bought a 2021 Pro, trading in a 2019 Platinum Tundra. The Tundra was comfortable on flat, straight freeways, but it handled like a beached whale on our 2-lane mountain roads here in Colorado. It was also a PITA to park. OTOH, the Tacoma handles so much better it's truly amazing. Great steering, flat cornering, never feels sloppy. The Pro does have a firm ride, but it's not uncomfortable for us. Night and day compared to the Tundra--quite pleased with the Pro.

Well, not 50 yet, but I will be in July. Currently on my 4th Tacoma. I live in WV and around here it does seem to be a full size crowd for the most part. But the local Toyota dealer cannot keep Tacoma's on the lot and used ones do not sit around long either. Especially 1st gen trucks. Honestly, I was looking at the full size option (my wife giving me the "you know you are going to buy a Tacoma" look the whole time) but just could not see myself driving one.

My son is 18 and owns a 2002 that was his first truck.

Just looking at the internet, you'd get the impression that Tacoma owners tend to be the younger crowd.

Definitely my thread and waited until my birthday to unlurk :)

Exhibit 1: The white 1995.5 LX was my first Tacoma and drove it until it got pretty tight for a toddler in the rear seat. It was a manual and I recall it was the absolute base model? The AC went out at 200K miles and was traded in for the wife's Pilot - I "inherited" a CR-V for the daily drive back then. I commute 100 miles each day for work so an 09 Prius became the DD.

Exhibit 2: The 09 Prius (245K mi) was traded in for a 21 SR5. To paraphrase somebody in this thread, I opted for another Tacoma after some milestones were met and it became practical. I do routinely conduct farm visits as part of my job and yes, I took my 09 Prius to these farm visits. I did acquire a Prius cousin, a CPO 2015 CT-200h acquired two years ago with 25K, when the 09 Prius broke the 225K threshold. So now I think I have an all-weather, farm visit-enabled DD combo. Not to mention we had two hurricanes in 2020 that knocked off power for days and a truck became a necessity. My family thinks it's a midlife crisis thing but I love them for it. I still enjoy my job, and hope to be continue doing it for a few years more.IMG_4377.jpg

EF167F35-ABAA-46EF-B6C5-7D6F4DDD4A25.jpg After four Ford F150s and a Kenworth W900b Aerodyne, I got a Taco ‘cause it fit in the garage. It’s a cool truck, and I’m having fun wheelin’ moderate trails all over AZ. I find everyone on the trail waves and chats, regardless of vehicle. Fun.

I’m 55 and feel no need to be 20. I have the usual aches and pains. I have an aging parent and all that comes with that. I also have good teeth, all my hair and a spirit for adventure, so no complaints here.

2nd - 2014 TRD Off Road 2WD DCSB Pyrite Mica, I really miss that one! I should have tried to keep it.
