If your truck is the one in your profile pic, it won’t fit right. This is because the back of the cab is different for standard & extended cab trucks.

note the profile of the XTRA cab
you'll have to offset it an inch or more and you'll have an awful seal at that 'handy' gasket, and you'll likely have to trim parts of the rear to get the tailgate to close
As I said before get one you know that fits!

Yeah, the lines are all off. It makes it look like a bastard child of the early 4runner and a Taco.

Only way to rock this look is if you did this, too:

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
That topper wasn't on a 4runner unless it's been highly modified. The front end isn't right. I do remember seeing these back on 90's Toyota trucks. Don't remember who made them. Keep in mind, many people now call all small Toyota trucks, Tacomas. I don't think it would fit correctly on a Tacoma, but post a pic if you get it.

I think you might want to stick with your own generation Tacoma. It will save you fitment headaches.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Personally I wouldn't buy it simply because it's ugly as cuss. But if it's sound and not damaged, $50 is a steal for a used topper.

That looks similar to the one I have. I was told those top and front windows (can see in the photo) did not come stock but were an option added on by the dealer. Not a bad find tbh.

Keep searching. If a topper between an extracab and single cab of the same generation won't fit well, then going with one from a 70s/early 80's pickup certainly won't fit either. The beds are different sizes!

You're going to either have to increase your budget or not be in such a hurry

If you don't want to or can't increase your budget, you're certainly going have to be okay with a topper that has all sorts of problems besides just being old and fugly.

    What is your budget anyway?

Just because that second topper is on an early 70s 80s pickup with tie-downs doesn't mean the topper was designed for that pickup lol.
Get the serial number and run it through Leer.

I did the same - their customer service confirmed the SN was built in '99 design for 1999-04 tacoma
only concern with the second topper you listed is it looks like it's missing the back window :annoyed:

Well ideally, no more then $200.00. I know new ones run anywhere from $1,100.00 to $2,000.00 plus or minus. Your right, I’ll just have to be patient and wait for it to pop up.

Do you "need" one that badly though? It might be more trouble than it's worth getting one that's that cheap.

You can probably get a decent one for ~$500

Thats a good one. Unfortunately I’m more down south so not that many options near me. My ideal one would be this type, but hard to find in my size.
