Harness in truck was attacked by rodents. Picked this up from junkyard. All tangled up. Looks to be retaped. I tried dropping it in, and it's pulling on connectors too much. If I start undoing the tape to loosen the tension, I think I'll make a bigger mess.

    What 2 do?

I do. I would start by buying a pack of zip ties.

What's next after that? You recommend starting on one and working down? Or should I zip tie the individual connectors? Should I remove the tape?

The dash is on but can be easily removed. The old harness is still there.

take the old one out, lay it out as best you can, make the new one match the old and then install it.

I agree with this. Match up the wires and use wire loom or wire sleeve and tape it up.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
How much did they pay you to take that away?? Were you unable to find a part out from a forum member.

I really hope it is the harness you think and hope it is!!!

When dealing with a mess like this very carefully install the mess by plugging in all the connectors making sure to route the wires away from the clutch and brake pedals and the parking brake .

If you try to tape and loom this before installing something never fits and your back to square one.

Best of luck !!! your going to need it I would have the seats out and doors off

I am sure we all have our proven methods.

As said above, lay the new harness on top of the old one, match the connectors and then use zip ties to bundle the wires before taping them. You also want to match the routing of the old harness, don't make the harness straight, it might make it harder to plug in the connectors.

    I have a couple questions:
How easy would it be to fix the damaged harness?
Why is the replacement harness untapped?
Are the two harnesses the same part number?

I've used these products when I redid my dashboard harness. It's the closest thing to OEM as I could find.
    tape: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078XNZFBN?ie=UTF8
harness protection (get multiple sizes): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B091B37LRR?ie=UTF8

I don't like using Tesa tape unless the factory used it.

Here is my dash harness bundled together before wrapping it with tape:

Why is your harness missing those big black square blocks (junctions?)?

What junctions? Maybe because it’s a different year?

Man. My first instinct would be continuity testing of every single wire before I'd put any other effort into it. The rest depends on how much free time you have.
