I'd like to see the difference between the 4x4 and 2x4 where it comes to locker actuation.

Obviously the 2wd doesn't need 4 low to operate. I'd like to find that difference and replicate that on the 4x4.

    Anyone seen my wallet?
Wheeled my 2nd gen open diff 2wd w/auto lsd on some 2 diamonds.was raining for 2 days prior so it was wet and muddy.

It did fine for the most part, it was my first time behind the wheel on a trail so who knows if i could have made it where i got stuck.

We came to the end of a trail, was a slight downhill then a steep twisting uphill, i had trouble walking it so i knew id be struggling. 4x4 in front of me went ahead and made it up. I got speed on the down hill but that made it hard to keep my line going up, made it about half way up and lost traction. Backed up a little each time and kept trying but couldnt get traction. Decided to go back to the bottom but i didnt realize how tight the trail was, didnt turn enough backing down so i got caught with my right rear in a ditch. A 4x4 pulled me up.

Oh I understand 4wd and 2wd have the same motor with the same power I just don't think there's enough "horse power" present to spin paddle tires through loose sand. That is all.

OP didn't ask about "offroading" a 2wd truck, he specifically asked about Hill climbs.

Hill climbing is a specific sport with dedicated rigs.

Yeah, me too! Does their light blink non stop too or can they engage it and turn it off successfully? That would be fun to take that 4x2 with the locker and hit the dunes. It will stay engaged no matter how fast you go I bet.
