What's your opinion on the split seasons? Personally I think that would drive me crazy... We start on October 20th and the season lasts for 100 days straight. Bad weather, take off work and head straight to the marsh. But for you.. Bad weather, wait a couple weeks until the split is up.

Very nice! Take a couple shots of your spread/marshland next time you're out there, I'm curious as to how your hunting grounds look.

Woke up this at 4 this morning after too much beer last night.

My brother and i headed out to a local salt-marsh, once we got their we were unpleasantly suprised with a parking lot full of other hunters. The only place to hunt is along about a mile long levee, with salt ponds and waist-deep mud on both sides. There were well over 20 guys scattered down the levee, but we came well prepared with our kayaks and blind materials. We kayaked out to the middle of the pond and watched a meteor shower for about an hour before sunrise.

When the sun came up we had a couple birds swimming in the decoys, and better yet we heard a few early gunshots out in the bay. All the ducks that were resting out in the bay came in in huge numbers and low flocks and me and my brother quickly knocked out some pintails. I brought a mudstool with me, and while the water was only about 12" deep, as i was comfortably sitting down, the water was up to my bellybutton... the mud was that bad. A few smiling mallards (AKA SCHPOONIES) came in and found themselves backs towards the water and feet kicking in the air.

We ended early because we were tired of the mud... I'm headed back out in the late afternoon with some buddies to get the last bird of my limit.

Anyways I know the only reason anyone bothered to read this was PICS.. so here's one to satisfy.

Jewish mallards lol? Are many birds still up there?

I went out in the afternoon and finished up my limit and helped a couple buddies out.. I hope it's going to be a good season.. For these next 3 months out of the year i feel completely content and happy no matter what's going on in this fucked up world of ours... As long as I can wake up at 3 in the morning and freeze my ass off until we get a couple shots when dawn cracks I'll be a happy boy.
