Same here, I wish I could find a private spot for myself... but the advantage on public lands is that the other hunters makes things move around. So more chances to see ducks, but ducks are more suspicious of your decoys... but thats the game!

I do walk in hunts mainly so there's not many people to compete with. If they can't use 10 dozen decoys, 8 mojos, and 6 boxes of shells, then they aren't walking very far.

Haha i know what you mean! I keep my stock low with 12 decoys and go to my spot in a canoe lol The spot I want to go will have less people maybe, so I will be able to walk in the tall grass and maybe spook a few ducks

I take 6 dekes at the most. Lots of smaller sloughs. I've had the best hunts with lower number of decoys

It's stock except for the Trac Rac and DU seat covers _-:)
The fall season dates that NY recently confirmed are very late so by the time it opens teal and woodies are very likley to have pushed through. With the mallard mygration now shifted farther to the West that will leave us with a pretty meager duck season.
On the plus side, early goose starts in September....I'm looking forward to knocking a few of them down before bow season opens in October.

Talked waterfowl hunting with a colleague and now I can't wait for the season to come! I would like to explore a little and also work a bit on my canoe... don't know if I'll have time before the season!

It's coming up quick. I still need to get some ammo since I switched to 20 gauge for this season

20 gauge for ducks? Or smaller birds?

Ducks. Lots of close hunting. I almost went 28 gauge, but figured I'd hunt with the 20 for a few years and get to be a better shot first

Is there a place online to buy chokes from? Looking to improve my mossberg instead of buying another shotgun

Just looked what a teal is lol. We
Got some here but I don't shoot them because they are so small... season is opening on the 23th of september here, at the same time as the crossbow season. Gf is hunting with the crossbow so I go with here and play the guide haha might try to do a small run at the hunting camp. If not, I'll try to go a few times after work. Hunting spot access is like 5 minutes from home!
