Why lift it anyways? You’re going to a lot of trouble and having a lot of performance issues for something completely cosmetic.

Why do anything cosmetic to a vehicle then? I want it to look a certain way, I sacrificed performance to get it there the first time, now I'm looking to gain back what I lost possibly more. I don't like how these trucks look stock, that's as simple as it is.

Then if your intention is to keep the Taco and keep the look you want....there will be compromise somewhere

That is true. I was looking at newer trucks, but as of a couple days ago I lost the financial ability to do so. Now I've got to figure out how to make this truck suit my needs better. Which means a lot of compromises sadly...

"I've been getting by with the lack of space (I have an access cab), but I do occasionally have to have more than just one other person in my truck, and those back seats are not friend to anyone. I'm also wanting to haul around my crap project cars and occasionally my dad's boat when I want to go out to the lake. I really do love my Tacoma, but I'm thinking about buying something else that suits my needs better."

If you read your post, you make every reason to wanting to sell the truck.(ride quality, limited space, hauling cargo limitations, towing etc..) Unfortunately, you can spend more money to have the CO's custom built but you will likely still end up with the same issues. I can't imaging attempting to tow a boat with a 2.7 auto.

Trust me it's not fun lol. And I may edit the post. I lost the financial ability to reasonably afford a car payment and increased insurance costs due to housing circumstances very recently (quite literally a day after making this post). So I am now stuck in my 5 lug, unless I sold it for an older full size, and I just don't want to do that.

You don't seem to really care what advice is given to you. Sorry for your financial situation but that would make me more inclined to yank the lift and put it back to stock form. Why spend more money on the appearance of the truck if your are on a limited budget?

I'm really not looking to argue with anyone here. It is my truck, and yes while others may not agree with doing something for the sake of appearance, it's not their truck. I appreciate the advice and I'm not trying to be a dick, but we will just have to disagree on this. I will probably delete this post as my original plans have evolved into something completely different and so this post has been derailed. I've found help with the street truck guys and 5 lug guys. I am going to be yanking the current lift off for sure, but I will be going for a custom set of qa1 coilover shocks with eibach springs up front and a shackle flip with an extended shackle in the rear. This will give me the exact ride that I want with the lift I want. It will probably only be around $1500 or less all said and done, which is the equivalent of a 4-5 months of truck payments. I'll have to get by with using my dad's truck for towing, whenever I need it. Which is, admittedly, rare.

I still do it. My income hasn't changed, it's my housing costs (personal so I won't go into, but it increased significantly). With my current budget, while I could theoretically still "afford" the new truck, I could not miss a single day of work or my budget would be uncomfortably close to my income. There's not enough room for savings, or any unexpected spending. So, I've scrapped the new truck idea and decided to work with what I have.

    As a thought......

Limited budget should be focused on NEEDS. The WANTS can wait until the budget has more flexibility.

As an example. My house needs serious repairs. I want a new HU for the truck. Budget is snug. House repair is first. The HU will wait. Although, the HU is much less expensive than the house repair.

    Good luck with your decisions.

Sorry about the financial issue that has recently presented itself but you probably saved yourself alot of headache and further financial loss buying a Ram. Those things are money pits and lose value faster than any other truck. My suggestion... smoke a fat bowl before every drive and you'll forget all about how rough your truck rides all while keeping your hard earned cash for more weed. Just sayin

Fwiw, this guy is a rough ride too. You are not missing out on silky smooth, I’ll say that.

It can tow 10 horses just fine though.
