Sometimes I just want that thing OFF. DARK. I see ways to dim the screen, but I don't see a way to just make it go dark.

Thanks, this is the greatest forum known to mankind.

There’s a gear icon on the display that lets you do it. Go to display setting and I think it is a big button screen off.

This is the only way. I drove a rental car this week that had a button dedicated to just turning the screen off. Mildly interesting.

You are correct, I turn mine off because I drive very early in the morning and appreciate my low lighting dash/ quiet ride to work.

Hitting any button on the radio or the phone button on the steering wheel brings it back, and I will go back to the settings button to re-turn it off. It will stay off otherwise.

It is one of the features that I sometimes miss from our saab:

    night-panel-624x564.jpg

It didn't have any sort of large display, but there was this Night Panel button. If you hit it, everything shut off except for a section of the speedo. Different sections would light up if necessary, like you exceeded that upper speed or hit the low fuel area.

    It was gimmicky, but useful.

Good additional info. Also one thing I didn’t mention - keep in mind if you use a custom image for the screen off, that will display instead of turning dark.

I like my custom image but wish there was a screensaver type setup so I could get the best of both. But my flashy image is too cool to give up lol.

Ha I did the same when I first had the truck and my knee knocked into the cruise indicator and was beyond confused as to what it kept showing me lol.

In my case I’m at a 80/20 split going in the other direction!

Say i was taking my step dads taco for a midnight stroll and wanted to have no headlights daytime lights etc? How would one do this?

It used to be switch to daytime lights and pull the ebrake one notch without engaging it to make all the headlight lights go out.

Stealing your Stepdad's truck to meet up with Wendy again?

Can't you turn the knob on your light stalk all the way off (down)? Unless it is trim specific.

Edit: You anywhere near Highway 9?

Girlfriend and I were enjoying a fun teenage evening (17 years old) down a fire road years ago. Radio on for about an hour to help with the mood. When time to go that old 5 speed Nissan wasn’t starting. Girlfriend couldn’t pop the clutch so guess who was pushing. I would love to be young and dumb again. Just dumb now. For the record, that little hussy is now my wife of 16 years.

"In the day we sweat it out on the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through the mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway nine"

Sigh. If it has to be explained, it is no longer funny. Just tell Wendy you kinda like Rosalita too.
