Yea I’m fine. It’s already much better. I’m just lucky it happened at an angle across the top instead of straight across.

Made a matching hammock stand for my wife and me. I had made hers for her birthday 2 years ago so I figured it was time to make one for me so we both can hang out in the yard.

4x4s are attached with 3/8x3 lag screws countersunk.

Purpleheart cut offs - some checking, but some of the bigger pieces will fit in a flat rate shipper.

If interested, send me a PDF of a USPS shipping label and they are yours

When I had a little shop in my house, I would collect interesting scraps. Now I avoid collecting anything, and buy what I need when I need it.

I see some members make small pieces, and thought somebody might like to have this unusual species.

Too nice to throw in the garbage, for sure, but unfortunately that happens too, especially with these really dense, mineral rich varieties that don't burn well, lol.

Calling all wood enthusiast. I have a 94 nautique that has a custom platform that was recently smash. I’m looking for a type of wood (other than teak) that will work good in water and is easy to track down. 78B12EC4-CCF6-410B-91F3-BE81CC4BEECE.jpg

I would think composite deck boards (trex etc) would do the trick.
    Why not teak?

Ipe would work but it’s onylnslightly cheaper than teak.

Only downside is that composite stuff get really really slick when it wet.

Staying away from teak because hardwood places in my area cant get ahold of it and what they can get ahold of claim it’s teak but looks nothing like it, sounds like buying cheap wood for real price

    Start from scratch.
Ok. Isn’t Ipe a density not a type of wood so it would be like a Jatoba Ipe.
Or is the name of the wood Ipe

Name of the wood is Ipe. It's a very dense hardwood out of south America. I just built my deck with it last year. I have some scraps of you wanted some of them for repairs. It's also known as Brazilian walnut.

Just some of my other projects. Humidors, tea boxes, Bluetooth speaker boxes, coffee table, and the entertainment center in the background. Mostly made from scraps from other jobs.
