Just finished one of two. Tops will be concrete. Any recommendations for an out door finish? I am looking at General Finishes Out Door Oil.

Yes a live edge river coffee table. Something like this but I want to leave the bark on for a more dramatic look.

I have 4 gallons of epoxy resin ready but the working temperature is 70-80*. right now at 11:15pm it is probably still 100* or so in the garage. it's still 82* outside.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
spar urethane is good for UV protectant.

If you use a water based stain, use a water based top coat. If you use oil based stain, use oil based top coat.

That's freakin neat. Where do your source your weird pieces of wood? Just go to the mill and ask?

I just bought a house and it has a shop and I want to get back into carpentry.

I was thinking of using an General Finishes Outdoor Oil. I haven't had any first person reviews.

I bought it from thelumbershack.com. They were having a 33% off on top of the regular sales and always free shipping over $75. They wrap it well in foam wrap with hard cardboard edges, shrink wrap then box it up over it. Delivery took less than a week thru UPS. The piece above went from $1600 down to $298 no tax free shipping. Also important this wood is kiln dried.

They number and take pictures of every piece/set so you are getting exactly what you order.

A local place might be more or less depending on where you live.

I also bought two more smaller pieces 48" x 8" x 1.5" of live edge walnut while the sale was still on.

Besides work which is mostly general remodel work I've made or modified a few flashlights. Usually started with something inexpensive to avoid stress in essentailly hobby projects. This was from a root ball I found on the beach. Uses an 18500 cell in a modified Convoy S2(same oal as the 18350 version).

And this is from a Bay Laurel burl. Uses a 16650 cell( modded from a 14500 Sipik clone zoomie).

The finish on both is epoxy resin.

Walnut credenza. I needed practice hand cutting dovetails, and this piece has 164 of them. The slab on top is from a tree harvested locally. There used to be many commercial walnut groves in So Cal, but those days are over. Save for the back it is made from solid wood panels..fingers crossed it doesn't move too much.

Same here. I'll be making smaller things out of walnut for several years at least.

...would love to do next project in walnut, ..and maybe a secondary species.. ...building the courage to make an attempt at one of the furniture pieces in tom fidgen's "unplugged workshop" book (one of my favorite books)... probably won't be the "architect's table" first, but that is something i really want to make!
