    OK I will continue.

I spent the today running each side many times thru the planer. They went from 2 1/2" down to 2 1/4 to get them nice and clean. Then I spent an hour with 60 grit and a belt sander cleaning up all the sides. My circular saw could only cut to 2" so I had to use a jig saw for the last 1/2". It was pretty ugly. When that was done I rounded the edges with a router.

I was worried about losing more bark so I mixed up 10 oz of epoxy resin and painted it into all the pits and holes in the bark. This should toughen it up and help to minimize air bubbles when the river is poured.

I still have some light sanding to do next.

I had a fairly productive weekend. Finished the legs on my side table, tried a woodcraft knife kit, started my first river table, and finished up my first cutting board. So far I'm pretty happy with how things are turning out, especially since these are all first attempts.

I had to show the top again, I love how the grain looks.

Maple and walnut cutting board. As simple as it is, this might be my favorite of them all. Super cheap and easy to make.

Were you able to do it all in one pour? the stuff I got said only do 1/4" at a time or it might get too hot.

heres the mills I made. I had just enough material to make 2 3"x3"x12" blocks. I glued the 2 walnut pieces with cherrywood then turned the blocks on the lathe.

I wish haha. I've actually been doing this one for several days cause the epoxy I'm using is only a 1/8" max pour. I'm close to done now, the boards were only 15/16" thick.

Do a search in the link on ebay. Ive used this place numerous times for the blanks for salt and pepper mills. Quick shipping and you can find reasonable stuff.

Oh yeah...spalted anything that isn't treated. Destroyed a celtic knot I was making because of the wrong glue too.
