one of my favorite places to go, but i can just never justify their prices. Always seem a little high. Also, it's the only place in 100+ miles that I know of that you can pick up a slab of purple heart like that.

Maple cherry walnut and oak I pick up on craigslist for $1-3 a bf. Its rough but I can put a straight edge on it and plane it. I'm also not selling the stuff I make. if I was selling it and could justify it, I would definitely pick some up from the woodsmith store. Especially stuff I cant get anywhere else. I go there a lot for the general finishes products.

I do a ton of woodwork. Have built a lot of the furniture in my house, cabinet doors, cabinets, guitars, my bed frame.

Here's one I'm most proud of. Redesigned it myself based on a standard Adirondack/Muskoka chair design, but to hide all the screws (other than the main bolts to join the various sections together). Then people started wanting some so I would built sets, including a pair with joint tables.IMG_0017.jpgIMG_1044.jpg

    yep..
Maple and purple heart? what else are you using there? I just finished an end grain board. Wish I had more space and tools (planer) to make them quicker.

I use sugar maple, cherry, paduak, and purple heart.
I'm making a table out of cherry and walnut, and the more I see the maple and purple heart together I wish I had gone that route. But wife definitely would say no

I've been staying busy the last few days with Christmas coming up.

The outside two are walnut and maple and the middle one is sapele and maple. I really like how they look so far.

    IMG_2996.jpg
These two are maple, walnut, and padauk. I meant to take a picture of the boards before I cut them cause they looked beautiful. These are the next to get glued up.

    IMG_3020.jpg

The flag was just an experiment that I thought would be cool. I love how cheap it was to make and fairly happy with how it came out. Behind that is a river table that I need to finish up.

    IMG_3021.jpg

This was just an experiment. Planning on filling it with epoxy since the bottom is to gouged up. Probably not doing it again until I get a nicer set of chisels.

They're all around 12x18. The widths on the first three all vary cause they were precut strips but the length on all of them is 18. The other two are more like 13x18.

That would be a good size! I forgot to mention the thickness, mine are all relatively thin coming in around 3/4" I didn't take a picture of the last one, but I have an all cherry board that I plan on making thicker like 1-1/2" end grain.

Yes that’s is my goal with all the scraps I pick up and I am doing edge grains to get that thickness
