$57 bucks a board foot. I'd probably hang it on the wall as is.

Did that with a piece of ancient kauri. It's our "art" above the mantle.
Highly figured wood like this is always expensive. The rest of the bed is being built from a bundle of butternut I got for around $2/bf, so that part is kind of a steal!

Always like the mix of maple and cherry! Did my coffee table and daughter's crib out of that combo.
    Nice work!

Agreed! I recently started working more with walnut. Love the richness.

Walnut is great! Especially when it's not steamed. I personally will not touch steamed walnut. I want the lighter sapwood (if it's present) and all the rich reds, greens, and purples that are in that un-steamed heartwood! My final project in undergrad was a computer desk, entirely made of walnut (and iron and bronze).

Thank you! I try to make my own designs for boxes like that, influenced by Asian designs and mission/arts and crafts.

I have it on good authority that there is a lot of free wood just laying all over the place in the coastal Carolina's right now...

So you live in a museum display?

We just have shit we find on the side of the road on our shelves.

Btw- that’s my way of saying I like the display and the whole set up. My wife says I make smart comments that people misinterpret too much. :pout:
