I was in the middle of setting up my home office when I was derailed by a broken leg, but am starting to get back to it. I have a vintage desk but finding a comfortable desk chair that fits has been tough, as the desk is smaller than modern versions. I found this new chair, but it's about 2 inches too tall. I was thinking it couldn't be hard to cut those 2 inches off the bottom of the legs, but they are not straight.

How would you go about cutting 2 inches while keeping the angle correct and all 4 legs the exact same length?

Id measure/find the front angle, mark outside front, on the front legs, measure/find outside rear angle on back legs. Should all be the same angle it looks like but at least the front two then check the angle on the back two. Draw the line and follow it. Hand saw if you have it.

Could probably use a combo square too. Use the floor for the horizontal plane, then measure up 2”. Use a torpedo level with the chair (as the chair sits) to get the level line. Mostly say these items because most houses already have them. Then “I” would hand saw to make sure I’m hitting the lines. Place it back on the ground, check for any gaps. Use a medium grit sand paper to touch up any specific spots. Lastly, add the bottom item of choice; plastic, rubber or my go to- felt ones.

Damn- easier way. 2” block for height, run a flush cut saw or oscillating saw on top the block. Look up undercutting door trim for any specifics.

Sneak peek of a checker table I made by hand up in Virginia in my great aunts barn using a door from old door that had fallen off.
Rest of table is full of sickness meds

The simplest way is just with a block like @shane100700 noted. You go about it the same way you would level a wobbly chair only you would use a taller marking reference.

I'd just tape a pencil to a block and Mark all the way around each leg. I'd use a hack saw for a smooth cut.

You don’t have to invite people over just make sure your dog is sitting next to you, and when your wife gives ya shit about trying 6 full different types of beer, your not drinking alone the dogs here!! It’s research!

Gotta start somewhere, right? Find yourself a local beer fest. You can knock out at least 30!
