2 projects finished today. The first being a Michigan project I did for a customer and the second is the wood emblem I made for myself. All turned out pretty good I think.

Ohh. Yes I did. I put it in a vice and cut it with a pull saw.

If you just need a piece (or two) the same diameter and half the thickness, the easiest way i can think of would be to use it as a template to cut pieces out of a thinner piece of stock using a flush cut router bit. If it had to be half of that piece, a vise and hand saw would be safest, but i can't think of any way that I'd call easy.

Today was an accomplish nothing productive day....I go to turn a plastic pen blank only to find that the blade is dull so it chips and breaks one of two pieces I have left. I go and cut another piece too short and the final piece chips out on the end, halfway through the process...I try to find a stupid allen key that I have 10 different sizes of nearly the right size but just small enough difference to not allow me to unscrew the set screw for the blade...so I bagged it for the evening. I came back inside and ordered a new tool with allen key, some other pen blanks, and some sanding discs for a total of $124... !:annoyed:

I had an interior paint job in a house that was repiped. The room had a popcorn ceiling and the plumbers had to access the space above the room.

Originally the homeowner wanted me to remove all the popcorn, patch the drywall, and make the ceiling smooth.

After mentioning the possible mess and how even a small repair might be noticeable with the lamps on, I was able to upsell the wood ceiling.

I installed a piece of drywall first to even the base ceiling, and added the wood to the wall for a border. Next I installed nine squares of quarter inch plywood, then the cross pieces. I used a cove trim inside each square. To finish, I caulked, filled, primed, and painted.

In some ways the labor is just as easy as the popcorn scrape. Materials were considerably more, but the end result really pleased the homeowner.

Probably your best one yet. Not because of the team, just the layout and colors.

Curious if you are free handing the paint or using tape? What type of paint?

This one was all free hand. I use acrylics, mainly because that's what I am used to from back when I used to do canvas paintings. I thought about using tape but figured I would just free hand it. I didnt sand the wood alot and it made for a bumpy ride hence some of the edges are not perfect but all in all i like how it came out. I will def sand it more next time to get a nice flat surface for the painting portion.

    Thanks!

20161003_160350.jpg havent made stuff with wood since woodshop in highscool but ive recently began making subwoofer enclosures from mdf for friends myself and coworkers. Pretty fun hobby. This 1 is mine and i messed up on it a hair, but overall its sound. Front wall bowed in a bit and didnt have enough clamps or hands available to hold it in place when i was drilling and screwing, and that awful wrinkle. Not bad for my first time carpetting though.20161003_160350.jpg IMG_20161001_214242.jpg

I cut all walls and bracing with a jigsaw for the record. And my saw horses were recycle bins.
