Do you plan on doing this with a router free hand?

Router table. Working on the inlay now and it is a PITA. I’m sure it could be easier, but I vowed to learn new things on this project.

Yeah, and when you super glue yourself to...yourself, use vinegar.

And I failed. Trying to sand it down and some of the inlay came out. May take it back down to bare and keep it like that.

How deep did you cut the inlay?

Only as deep as the inlay. I could try several different things next time. Cut deeper, use different adhesive, finish the piece before cutting so the glue doesn't stick...like I said, a learning experience.

I ended up using my spare pieces and keeping the plywood showing. It grew on me.

No mistakes are made from lack of trying. What about putting some frosted of colored glass in place of the upper panel?

The original plan was to do leaded glass for a true prairie school inspired piece, but that is a skill I do not currently have. The panels are designed to come out should I gain that skill. I can always redo the panels with inlay should I get better at that, too.

However, I’m exceedingly pleased to this point. It looks like everything I’ve done to this point has been a planned decision, which is about all I can ask for.

Doors go back out to the shop tomorrow for trimming, cup hinge install, a second coat of finish, and some other touch ups. Have to decide on some period pulls.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Twist, don't pull. Super glue has no shear strength.

I have to do some very minor things like tweak one spot on the door where it is rubbing the cabinet, and add bump stops to the shelves. But it's done.

Just found out the maple tree I cut down has spalted . Anyone looking for any. I also would love to find a mill for some large cherry logs in Maryland.

Also ripped up my remaining material and got enough for 3 more. One all walnut, one all light cherry, and one dark cherry with a couple rips of light cherry for accents and a walnut "border".
