Yes, the rail comes off of the router insert. And the insert adds extra length to the table as well.

 

Would it be better if you mounted it so the out feed for the router was shooting away from the table?

 

There is really not a way to adjust the dust collection port on the fence that came with the Kobalt table and I use a dust collection system so it's not an issue for me. I also plan on building a custom fence extension for the table saw fence that will double as a fence for the router table. I will include a dust collection port in this fence as well.

 

Hard to tell specifics from a picture but it sounds like you have it under control!

I have that same fence on my old Craftsman table saw. It's a great fence.

 

People are shameless... I sand hardwood floors and this lady was trying to grind me for $1,500 off a $6,500 dollar sand & finish job.
I said "I don't negotiate pricing at all, I give people a good deal by using the best products, using the best equipment and doing the very best job that I can".
Then she keeps texting me asking me different questions about the process and the different finish options, etc.
Usually I'm very patient and I really don't mind answering questions for potential clients, but it was pretty obvious that she wasn't planning on hiring me.
Finally I said "You made it clear that my pricing isn't in your budget, so if I'm not a consideration for the job I'm not comfortable answering anymore questions".

 

People want stuff for free then complain about it...

 

Little rant....one of our customers, I pass their house on my way to the machine shop everyday, he was mowing his yard last summer and his mower quit. It's still sitting in the back yard right where it stopped. The grass hasn't been mowed all year this year (I've mowed 5 times). Someone mowed their front yard this week but not the back. His wife come in yesterday and said "someone mowed our front yard for free" my wife said that was nice, she said "yeah but they didn't do the back".

Not trying to complain but these 2 expect others to do everything for them, he works and you never see him outside. The rotten wooden fence and over grown bushes around the house are evidence of this. He is perfectly healthy and middle aged. It just comes down to laziness.

I always say you can't help those that don't want to help themselves.

I'm planning on sending out my first mailer to previous customers, and I was wondering if I could get a little feedback on it - should I include anything, etc ?

While there is nothing wrong with what you typed, I think most people will never read all of it before they set it aside. In my humble opinion, you need to hit more of the highlights and keep it simple and to the point. I like starting with a couple of attention grabbing questions that will hopefully suck them into reading the entire mailer. Here is my quick attempt at the same information in a slightly shorter format. I would also included a couple pictures, one of a bright, brilliant, perfectly finished floor and another of a floor with well worn traffic areas. Or, better yet, if you have some before and after pictures of what a customers floor looked like worn and tired and then how great it looked after you refinished it that would be even better.

Also make a point to break it into paragraphs. It looks less daunting to read and allows people to skip or skim sections they don’t really need or want the info on.

I agree with the asking questions aspect too. Something that grabs your attention and makes you want to learn the answers to those questions as you read further.

but you have some great points..... I really appreciate your input.
