My Delta lasted almost 20 years then I couldn’t get the replacement feed rollers anymore. Bought another Delta/PorterCable about a year ago. It does ok but doesn’t seem as powerful as the last one. I was going back and forth with the Delta/PC and the DeWalt. I ended up with the Delta/PC b/c of the price. This is just a hobby piece.

    When in doubt, DeWalt.

I hope the Planer is better than the cordless recip saw. What a huge disappointment. Their drills and impact drivers are good.

Just in reference to the planer question. The 734 and 735 in particular are the standard bearers for portables.

Good to know. Probably some of their best products then. I wish I could have tried one out to have a comparison.

Love my DeWalt 734. If you need an extra half inch in width capability, go with the 735.

I pulled the trigger on the DW735X, because the 734 was too tall to fit on the flip cart I made, and I value my laziness more than cash.

    Thanks all for the advice!

Still shopping for a 14” bandsaw. I bought the porter cable from Lowe’s and it wasn’t what I expected. I returned it and ordered a Jet. I got an email saying it was out of stock so I ordered a Grizzly. Just got an email telling me it is out of stock. I guess I am going to have to pony up $1000 and go to woodcraft. They have the 14” in stock and they will load it into my truck for me.

My buddy has the 14" Rikon and likes it pretty well. Not sure what your options for purchase are though but something to consider.

If you're going to spend a grand on a bandsaw, wait for the next sale and grab a Laguna 14|12.

Or the Jet JWBS14 is at that price right now. No experience with that one, though.

Lowes version of PorterCable/Delta is not what it used to be. I got the table top model bandsaw and it will not perform the way the old ones did. I have a Grizzly tablesaw that is a beast. I also have their dust collection system, lathe, and scrollsaw that are great. All of their stuff is heavy. I’m thinking about get a one of the Grizzly bandsaws. Please post what you end up with and how you like it. Thanks.

The Jet JWBS14-SFX is the one I’m looking at. It’s marked down from $1199 to $999.

I was finally able to finish my main Summer/Covid project last week and grabbed some pics along the way. I built myself a new computer/gaming area with the help of my friend who knows a lot more about wood working than I do. I made the sketches and brought him the design plot with measurements and we worked on it when we had free time to meet up at the shop.

The old Setup. Small and simple but it did the job for a long ass time.

3/4" 13-Ply Baltic Birch from a local lumber yard that I brought to my friends wood working shop to get things started.

LOTS of Clamps!!! Cut the single sheet down and doubled it on top of itself for even more strength, and I wanted to use as much of the wood as possible. It wasnt cheap but it is built like a tank.

A lovely Stain with many layers of Poly seal to protect it from anything.

We used some of the scrap wood along with some nuts/bolts from around his garage to make the headphone stand and capped it off with a Lug nut to stay with the theme.

    Test fitting the side monitors.

And the completed area. It is much more appealing to the eyes and a little bit more of a conversation piece besides "Oh, you have a racing wheel" LOL.
