    Nice. Had the same number in my fingertip when I lopped the corner of it some years ago with a swiss army knife. The two through the fingernail were the worst to watch.

    Had to dig into one of my secret squirrel lumber stashes today

    This is some full 2" random width , fine grain Doug Fir I've had stickered and air drying in this shed for literally a decade

    It's primo material , I bought a couple part lifts from a saw mill that was going tits up

    Current price to buy fine grain Fir 2x6 here is $9/lin foot , I think I might sell my whole stash and retire lol

    So milling today

    Good yield , just out of the 2 / 2x6 I got 2 / 1"x4" head casings , 2 / 11/16"x3 1/4" aprons and 2 / 1 1/4"x1" applied nosings

    As you can see by the grain , this is mint material

    Pro Tip ~

    That right there is the secret sauce ingredient for installing door and window casings using flat stock like in Arts + Crafts or Japanese trim styles

    The V rebate in the back of the casing eliminates the bridging effect you get when the edge of the window liner / door jamb is not perfectly flush witb the drywall ( like never )

    I usually leave about 1/4" of flat area on each edge to seat properly against the face of the window liner / door jamb / drywall for glue and it allows a bit of trimming incase things are really out of plane , that pic doesn't really show that too well but there you go

    Ahhh, I recall seeing something like that before.

    So again...what are you work-in on now? This can't be for the new job, is it? You're saving all this stock for yourself, no?

    @scocar

    I'm trimming out a bank of windows at the house I built for my brother about 4 years ago , those windows have always had a leaking problem when there is high wind driven rain , the window company has attempted to fix the windows twice and finally agreed with me and conceded there was a design flaw in their mullion system so they built 4 new windows and sent them out , but its one of those typical " we only warranty our product " BS fests which is currently unresolved as to who is going to pay for stuff like the peel & stick , spray foam and finish materials to re-install and re-trim out the windows so I'm trying to use materials from my stock so that if I end up not getting reimbursed for them later I'm not out a bunch of quan

    Well at least it is for your brother, and at least your finish work should help ameliorate the hidden pain of the BS with the window company. :thumbsup:

    I already trimmed it out once , I had to cut all those trims off the windows to get them out , it was painful

    It is always rough when you have to take apart fine craftsmanship, if its your own it hurts more I think.

    This is what I'm up against , removing and re-installing these windows was the limit of what 2 guys could handle , the taller ones are 4'6" wide by 11' high
