Just making sure I’m not being crazy. My shop is small, but I’m using a valuable 23’ wall to center the miter saw. If I’m not using a fence that will let me use the surface for other things. I’ll have to open the garage door if I need to run anything longer than 8’ through the jointer though.

My shop is kinda set up with 1 wall dedicated to a full length workbench that has the chopsaw on it but also is for housing all my tools above and below bench , tablesaw island in middle of room centred on 34' length again so same 16'6" capacity with door on one end centred on tablesaw blade line and window on other end to extend capacity . The long wall opposite the chopsaw / tool wall is dedicated to lumber storage / a few stand up tools

This building is more contractor tool storage / workshop than dedicated stay in shop woodworker workshop

With 23' I may consider offsetting mitre saw depending on what type of materials you are likely to cut , I'm usually handling materials up to 16'

just to reiterate , when you had contact with wall in this last pic you were at max angle / bevel correct ? ie 60 angle / 47 bevel ?

I finally got around to making an actual set of shutters, after a few practice rounds. I'll admit it was quite frustrating until I got my technique down. Lots of mistakes mostly around the router table.

    Next up sanding and paint!

I haven't had any issues other than I haven't used it enough. The software is very similar to 3D printer. If you haven't used one before there is a huge learning curve to 3D design but once you get the hang of it the limit is your imagination or someone else's depending on what you find or buy on the internet.

    Or a combo of both.

Still early in the learning curve. One issue was some chatter in the cut but was able to clear that up with some belt and bearing adjustments.
Software.. carbide create is a little basic in its CADD functions but I came from a job were I had a $20,000 in drawing software on my computer. Carbide create works you just need to work a little more creatively. I have AutoCAD lite for design. $400/year but I use it for lots of other things as well.
Carbide motion is good. I would like to be able to drill holes.
For importing images I use Inkscape. Free. Way down on the learning curve here but have read lots of positive reviews.

I bought a house a few months ago and it had a 16’x9’ shed in the back yard. I’ve decided to turn it into a little wood shop. The previous owner left a bunch crap and scrap wood in it. Today I built a 30inch by 8’ work bench on the north wall with the scrap wood. Up next will be a miter saw station on the 16’ east wall. Then I want to build a rolling cart for the table saw. Eventually I going to throw in a small dust collection system and plumb in compressed air.
Any tips and ideas for maximizing space and use.
