I was led to believe if you leave a mess the old farts that basically live there will strap you to the CNC table and draw dicks on you

A friend of mine wants me to make a sign with some letters he’s going to mail me. He said he wanted treated wood because the old one came apart due to weather. Can treated lumber be glued with titebond III? I thought about using white oak or chestnut, it’s pretty durable too. He lives in Los Angeles.

Chestnut will last longer than treated lol the old timers used it for fence posts even when black locust was available

I've used poly urethane glue but it was backed up wihh mechanical fasteners. Maybe try a construction adhesive...

My DIL wanted to fill in a void in the fireplace brick wall in their house.

I came up with the idea to do a faux stacked firewood “door”.

I got rough dimensions from my son. I made everything from scratch. The stacked wood insert is removable if she IMG_3242.jpg IMG_3276.jpg IMG_2688.jpg IMG_3241.jpg wants something more seasonal in the future. I made everything assuming the opening was square, it wasn’t so I had to do some modifications in situ to the jambs and the edge of the door. The door is heavy so I reinforced them with steel L brackets which were inset at the inside corners for the frame. The door “latches” with 2 magnetic catches, works really well and the door swings freely and is level so t stays where it should. It was a fun little project.

The letters are around 10” x 4”. The wood part won’t be much bigger than a foot tall. The length depends on the true measurement of the letters plus spacing in between. (I don’t have the letters yet)

My thought is that the treated boards will shrink when they get dry. I know they did here with my experience. (West Virginia)

I used Gorilla Glue and Sipo dominos for all the joinery on that tropical hardwood (Bangkirai yellow Balau) deck and railing system I built last job , all the joints are all still tight as Day 1
