Building a wall mounted work bench (20 ft long) tomorrow at work. Just bought $450 in lumber. I don't really have framing experience so any advice would be appreciated.

Think the triangular (trestle?) support would be sufficient for a 20 foot bench? I was going to use 7 supports so one every 3ish feet.

Assuming your studs are at 16", every 32" sounds like a lot.
What are you going to be doing on the bench?
Are you planning on storing anything under the bench? If so, space the supports out enough that things will fit.

Im definitely no plumber but Sharkbite couplers are the best invention. Amazing for situations like this. Either pex or copper quick legit fix

It is nice to know I’m not the only one that’s done it. My thing, my stud finder pinged and I Marked it but didn’t switch it over to metal to make sure it wasn’t a pipe…. Even though I was working in the pantry that shares a wall with the hot water heater…

Did you use crimp tool? I was trying to figure out how to attach pex to the pipe but couldn’t move it up or down. Was looking at a sharkbite slip coupling but didn’t have enough room. Just ended up rerouting

You can take my DYI card but I called the plumber :spending: Plumbing, HVAC and Garage door springs are the 3 things I will not touch.

as someone who has fixed a few furnaces, re plumbed my entire house, including bringing in natural gas, and replaced the torsion spring on my garage door, don’t sell yourself short. Anything that you can buy tools and parts for without a license, can be learned by any handy person.

We are going to use it for general boat maintenance so a lot of work in a vise, drilling, angle grinding, some hammering, blow torching seized hardware, engine work…so we need something study that we can pound on and crank the vise.
I picked the trestle design to free up storage room underneath than having vertical posts.
One think i was wondering about was my coworker picked up T25 construction screws but I was wondering if they were the right choice. I might wanna pick up 4 inch anchor bolts…

Thanks, I know that I can do it…. I just don’t want to. Of course with the cost of everything now and it not getting any better for at least 3 more years, I may have to suck it up if anything happens.

I would shoot for 4’ between the supports that way you should hit studs. You can run a 2x4 ledger board horizontally between the supports for piece of mind.
What are you using for the bench surface?
