I've been reading up on the subject and learned a lot. I had no idea I could remove pesky PVA with acetone before it sets. That will save me a lot of time. Nothing pisses me off more than getting a stain and finding clear spots from missed glue.

...lately I've just been using a damp shop towel to clean up the glue squeeze out (while it's fresh), no problems w/ finishing ...there are some misconceptions about doing this, but I've bucked the trend and have found it's way better than trying to scrape off partially hardened, let alone fully hardened glue, in hard to reach places.

That is my usually technique but the medium also plays into account. I was using Oak veneer plywood and though I had gotten the squeeze out cleaned up. Come to find out I had actually smeared it into the pores of the oak.

yep, ...porous woods like oak present that problem, ...you might be able to "pre-finish" certain components (w/out getting finish on the joinery of course) for situations like that... or use pore filler on woods like oak, ...although that alters the "look" of the finish/project...

Yeah, I tested a piece with filler and it lightened up the finish more than I cared for (Varathane Carrington stain). Live and learn!!!

A little late, but... The PC 690 combo set is the most versatile and industry standard set. It will do everything.

I upgraded the router table mount with Rocklers micro adjustment mount. Best bang for the buck.

Project for today a pair of cherry butcher block shelves that mount to large pull out brackets for a stand mixer and margarita mixer in a kitchen island. They will be coated with a bar top 2 part resin tomorrow.20170110_094046.jpg

Picked this up a couple years ago. It was at a house of some people that I built a deck for. It's a maple stump that was cut down some time ago and kept growing around the edges. The center was rotting And kind of looks like the sawtooth mountains. I dug down around the edges and cut it flat with my chainsaw and it was all I could do to pick it up and put it in my wheelbarrow. Been sitting under my work bench since then. Haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet. Really is a unique piece of wood.IMG_2393.jpg IMG_2394.jpg IMG_2394.jpg IMG_2391.jpg piece of wood. IMG_2390.jpgIMG_2389.jpg IMG_2388.jpg

Yeah I thought about that. Just haven't figured out if it would look better without the bark. I need to find someone with a sawmill and slice a small piece off the bottom.

Starting on the wine fridge hutch.

Got the dog toy box finished. Learned some new things about veneered plywood. That stuff is finicky.

I have used the MLCS bits before. It was a matched cabinet door making set. Didnt use them a whole lot, but they did just fine.
