Do an internet search. Maybe you can find someone who will come and cut it up for you. Or, contact a saw mill and see if you can do a swap where you keep some of the wood and they get the rest. Or post on social media, maybe someone who has an Alaskan Saw Mill but does not operate an official wood cutting business would make the same deal with you.

Lol I piddle in woodworking as a hobby

I opened a mental health treatment program for young men (and now women, but completely separate) six years ago. I wood work cause my grandpa taught me as a kid and it’s the thing that refills my spiritual cup

but, that being said I try a lot of things. I’ve built cabinets, dressers, tables, clocks, and epoxy.. hell I built my wood shop by myself in my back yard, plus wired it. I just enjoy learning new things.

Advice would be to keep failing. Even failing miserably. That’s what teaches me how to cope and more importantly how to be better

Thats fantastic!! Like counseling or something else?

I greatly admire family taught and self taught skills. I wanna build a shop for myself at some point.

Great advice. Failure is a part of life, the better you respond to it the greater the benefit, I'm finding. :)

Counseling. In patient through to independent living is what we offer. It’s tough work but when someone gets it.. it’s so so worth it

On our honeymoon in Hawaii and of course had to research local lumber. Was able to pick up a couple of small pieces of Koa to take back. They didn’t have much to choose from besides an $1100 piece of curly koa  so grabbed some other little pieces.

Hoping to go back and see if they have better inventory later this week. Definitely a couple of leave aside until the perfect project comes along for them types. Reminds me a bit of South American mahogany.

Congrats on the marriage and it's impossible not to but enjoy Kauai!

If you haven't done it yet, the Na Pali Coast hike is amazing.

I saw a piece of Koa at my local Woodcraft store but hesitated to buy it. Went back a few days later and it was gone. Shoulda woulda coulda. Koa is so hard to find, partly because there just not a lot of trees left and how/who/where it can be harvested.

Yep that’s what I’ve heard. Actually found a carpenter today who sold me some rough pieces for dirt cheap. Both Koa and monkeypod. Now I may need another bag to check for wood

Might be cheaper to ship it back. I'll pm you my address. You don't want to ship it home and worry about porch pirates stealing it. I'll secure it for you. I'm considerate like that.
