A drill press would be usefull for other things in your shop as well. I have a small variable speed one in my wood shop, and a big floor model grizzly in my metal shop.

For those smaller ones, if you buy used, check prices at harbor freight. People try to sell them for new prices.

Only real problem with the used small drill press is finding parts. The ones ive seen are all similar. Just make sure everything works. I Guess it just depends what you want to spend. And what use you will get out of it.

Harbor freight has an 8" new for like $80. :notsure:

The shop I work at has a floor drill press, I think it would be helpful though to be able to do all the finishing processes at home to save time. The primary use would be for branding, but obviously if I have a functioning drill press here, that would be good for home projects. :)

My experience has been that most of my projects only ever need that baby gap drill press. Hell 60% of them would be able to use the one that uses a cordless drill mounted to it

For $80.. just do it.. you'll find all sorts of uses from edge sanding to branding to drilling holes. It's an investment that's worth the space

Thats not bad price. They arent too strong when using forstner bits, but regular drill bits should be fine.

I finally got my daughter’s stereo rack done. I hope it survives being in a dorm!

I’m looking to upgrade my laser engraver. Recently saw an AtomStack on this page. Several models and affordable prices too. I want to spend around $450. Anyone use an engraver? What model or brand do you have? I have a Laserpecker but it’s very limited in what can be done with it. It won’t engrave larger wood pieces. The AtomStack will do approximately 15” x 16”.

Redline custom leather shift and e-brake boot. VFTUNE Super Full Otto cycle, octane learning, premium fuel.
The harbor freight drill presses I checked had terrible run out in the quill. Bought a shop fox full size. Absolute garbage, returned it. Bought a little ryobi like Tamar has. Super happy with it. Accurate, lazer cross hairs, led light. Super nice and not expensive.
