Alan Parsons Project song, 1982. Essentially a guy telling a girl "you cannot hide from me".

Yep, I figured there might be a few people who would know that was one of the other songs on the "album". (No CD's made at that time) One must be old and wise to know this stuff. :boink:

You may have to explain "CDs" for some of our younger members. Could be as alien as "vinyl".

To at least try to keep this a woodworking thread ...

Anyone have pictures of the shelves they built to hold their hundreds of CDs back in the day?

Trip to the woodworking store. Still unsure about $60 for Odie's Oil, but the wood is a keeper.

Print this and hang it up on the wall like pop-teen posters ...

    WoodworkerPorn.jpg

This was so pretty I just HAD to give it a new home ... $29 of zebrawood for $6.50. Any ideas for it?

The insert from my tray is extracted to give it a new home in a soft maple shell.

    Yes
If you turn pens, you could get like maybe 3 blanks out of that block. Or maybe like 2 coasters, I dunno.

Looks fairly thick. Can you rip it on the band saw into thinner slices then make a small box for an office desk or something like that?

No bandsaw ... basic power tools and sawhorsies. Done much with them though. But ... interesting idea.

Dry-fit of an attempt to make a nice wedding present, but I still have skills to learn, good thing I have a couple of months. The second orange 2 ft clamp I bought last night is broken so will swap later. Otherwise circular saw, drill, jigsaw, clamps, sanding blocks ... nothing more in my tool set to accomplish this.

Center is walnut/red-oak. Outside is soft maple.

Be brutally honest if you want. I know I am brutally honest with myself.

    Overall view, good-sized tray handles.

    OverallTray.jpg

An overcut ... small but I see it.

    BadCut.jpg

Two corners that can be fixed with quick 45 degree trim of maybe 1/8th inch.

    FixableCorners.jpg

A corner that may require re-cutting the end piece with the handle.

Do you have a wood rasp or dremel? Light passes with that or a dremel will take out the gouge marks.

End piece needs redone to make an even corner. I have enough wood. That nasty notch will be gone and I have months to work on the chatter-marks. Wood rasp ... maybe ... would have to find it.

I need to back away from it for a couple of days, just get my bad-from-factory 24-in clamp replaced with good one ... it has those tilty-plates supposed to release the traveller from the notches in the steel shaft, but it does not release like the other orange one I bought releases.

    Thanks for that input.

Looks like a different design than last time.

Miters are tough! I struggle with them every time I make a frame, and I have a table saw and a nice sled.

I have two of these Bessy strap clamps that I use to close up my mitered corners tightly.

    50AB364D-8F02-4F47-BF41-CCB57080841B.jpg

it looks like the side and end are different widths or is it just the pic. The rest I would smooth out with a rasp and sandpaper. Otherwise I would go down to my father in laws shop and use his bandsaw to recut.

Interested to see how it turns out.

I am repainting a bedroom this weekend, so no shop time

I use these bessey parallel type clamps with better results. Lowes has some different brand(i have 2) and harbor freight has some, others have said they work just as good.
