Redoing a guest bedroom in the house. All of the bases are made out of pine and will be painted black. Each piece will have 3/4” Maple tops for a black and white look. Still need to paint the bases, glue up the tops and cut to fit.

    2 Nightstands
1 “Chest of Drawers” that will use baskets as drawers
1 plant stand for in front of the window.

Nice overlap joins on the sides. But you SHOULD have gone for a double 45-degree cut at corners instead of flat ... :D

You might want to use "flocking" on the nightstands like this picture. Soft surface instead of hard wood. You can also buy felt in different colors that comes in large sheets. From https://www.flockit.com

First installment of my newest project. A "tressle table" (I think the man called it) made back in 1998 from a pattern in a mass-published book ... I know ...

Maple was the selected wood. Polyurethane that has aged since into an ugly orange in all the intervening years. Now I want to add support to the top/legs junction for all of the cantilevered weight. First step ... get the poly off! Almost done with that, but a progress report. First the table with failed removal of 25 years of poly, then the all-but-stripped down pretty white maple.

More news as time goes on.

Looking for recommendations on the best/fastest/easiest method to remove the old stain/polyurethane from these rocking chairs! She wants to stain them, I say paint would be the easiest. I can get the random orbital sander on most of the flats, but all the round parts and joints aren’t wanting to let go of the old finish. The arm rests are poplar, so I’m guessing the rest of them are also.

Paint stripper and a soft wire brush maybe? I had to remove 70 year old varnish that had crusted and yellowed off a fir door that had a brazillion nooks and crannies, sanding wasnt even touching it. Paint stripper took it off after three applications. Makes a mess but gets into the hidey holes :notsure:

My local wood supply shop pointed me to something better than the average "leaning toward eco-friendly" that Lowes sells. Worked well enough but you need to learn the technique. Also spoke of product HomeDepot sells that you need to ask for by name, that can expand in your garage in the can and go boom. Try the stuff the local wood worker store would suggest first before causing explosions, though.

I've had good results from using CitriStrip. Let it sit on your project for like an hour then scrape it off with a plastic scraper. You can use one of those red brillo pads to get into areas where the scraper cant reach but dont got heavy with the brillo pad since it will start taking material off the project.

Patience is required. You will get 95% clean then spend an excruciating time cleaning up what is left in the corners. Good luck.

Sad build, we had to put our Chihuahua to sleep yesterday. I made an Urn for her ashes. We will get a placard when we feel less sad.

Nicely done but dislike the reason you had to do it. My condolences.

My wife had her dog for 16.5 years before he passed and I was only around for the last few geriatric years. We picked up a black lab mix puppy from the shelter almost 6 years ago and she is my first pup.(Mom & ex-wife were allergic to dogs) Every time I show a great deal of affection to the pup my wife tells me she is going to break my heart one day.

I hope your heart heals from your loss.

Some type of stripper for the next three, but for the round pieces on the first one:

I know this feeling all to well. Sorry to hear of your loss. I made theses two frames for the paw prints of two pets we recently lost.

No one ever does man. Mine was 14. Had survived so many illnesses over the years and had lived a full life. We came home one day to her breathing wild and she had a chest full of fluid.

I hate to say this cause I know what it sounds like but I’ll take that abrupt end over months or even days of suffering and questioning.

may your pup rest in peace. I trust they lived life to the fullest.

Also I apologize. It’s been a stressful day for me and I might or might not be fully wrapped up in my feels.

Finally made a little rack for our clamps. They were driving me crazy sitting on the floor.

    Anyone like Maple?
I got a few nice pieces today at my local place.
Will be the tops to the pieces I built earlier.

They will have to wait for now. My son is graduating from UC San Diego this weekend.
