I grew up in Pasadena. There was always work for a kid willing to work.
I was working on a Subchaser remodel for my HS principal. Okum and calking the hull. A guy came down the ramp and offered me a job working on his boat.
    John Wayne.
I declined as I was going to boot camp in SD the next week. He handed me a Coors and said ,"Good Luck Son".

Cool story, got to meet John Prine once after a show. Got back stage afterwards, he was walking out of the dressing room. Thank him for coming and playing, then asked for an autograph. He said sure, handed me his leftover Pizza Hut box and signed my ticket stub on box. Thank me for coming to the show, incredible human being. R I P

Every day for the rest of the week he brought me lunch and a 6er. Like one of his crew. We'd talk as I ate lunch.
Sunset with a Coors on the stern.
A true good guy. His PT was down 2 slips being worked on,LA Boatworks.

I met some great folks there that summer.
Helped load a baltic birch log on a 1880 Baltic Ketch, bowsprit broken on a high tide.
The Capt. called me 4 years later to bring her up from Baja and we sailed her to BC.

A hero of mine for sure. Met him at the Icehouse one night. Same deal with hooters passed in the parking lot. LOL
Best show was at the Rose Garden Ballroom in Pismo. Emmy Lou and Bonnie opened and played with him.

"Grandpa was a carpenter" "Level on a level"
I still use 2 to this day.

These look like interesting clamps for making panels, large and small. The large one goes out to 36" and the small ones go to 16". Has anyone tried them?

    And the mini version

I've seen those before. Never used them though. Seems like they would work pretty well though
