Piece of burl wood. Possibly cherry, you'd have to sand it see what color it is.
Some use them for pistol grips

It's a burl, possibly Amboynia, valuable. Has many uses, pistol grips, knife scales, and it makes beautiful bowls turned on the lathe.

Very nice. But epoxy? Not a good choice to run knives across. For a user a oil and wax finish would be better.

Just don't run end grain stuff through a planer without a frame

I like them. Looks better with thicker boards though.

I follow this dude on IG that makes some wicked weaves in his boards and I've seen him slice it down to 1/8 inch and make faces for boxes and such.

Only 9 hours at work today so I came home and went down to the shop. I finished fitting the tennons to the second leg.
Just a dry fit to see how everything lines up.
    20240207_180711.jpg
Now I'm starting to see what I envisioned in my head. Massive and heavy!
    20240207_180728.jpg
There will be a 2" overhang all the way around for clamping things as needed.
    20240207_180751.jpg
Next I'll do the glue up on the legs.
Then it's on to cross stretchers.

Greg if you get it much heavier you won't be able to move it, looks great.

Lol, I don't want to move it. It will be built so I can take it apart if I ever have to move it. I've got massive cross stretchers to go on it yet, and they will be through mortised and wedged so they can come apart if needed. More joinery.

All of my stuff I have I take out and setup and put back, everything is portable, however my planner is old and heavy but I have no space for a workshop. It would be a dream to have the space for a nice set-up. At a shop I worked at they had a beautiful Jett 3 phase table saw with acue fence. I have had the good fortune to work with some of the nicest equipment. So I try to get the best I can afford that I can move around.

A lot of my tools are on wheels. Some are stationary like my lathe and table saw. Some things I move and some things I don't. My shop is half my basement. Garage is almost all wood stash because I chainsaw mill it and I have a pretty good hoard. This bench took 2 full logs.
