Any woodworkers?

Be carefull with that pallet wood, really watch for nails, or get a lumber wizard to scan for them. I use pallet wood a lot, but I'm very careful about nails.
I know what you mean about shop time, I treasure my time in the shop. Very happy for you about getting a new tool.

 

I've had that stuff for a long time and used most of it. I thought I saw something on one side and stopped. I'll stick drill in there and see what I can find later.

 

Until this morning, I have never seen a mortising attachment for a hand held...... but wow, It exists.

I stand corrected.

I had a couple of free hours today.

Birch board from my local cabinet supply. $4.06 a bf. 7 bf for about $30.






Planed to final thickness



Cross Cut to size



Ripped to size





Test fit with some shims and double sided tape



Chamfer added to the faces.




Test again



Top section divided and chamfered.





Still need to Final mount faces (screw in from back), sand, add pulls and apply finish.

 

Don’t mind the mess around the project. I don’t have dust collection in my shop

working on a cigar table for an employee of mine. He’s got a copper spittoon that’s got cigar rests soldered to the lip that he wants to integrate into the table. I hate to ruin the look of the top by insetting it into the table.

I was thinking of making an under table mount so you can tuck it away when cigar night is on hold. Pics to follow once I get something mocked up to show what I’m thinking.

any other ideas/input on how to integrate the spittoon are welcomed.

also, I went easy and quick on the legs, but open to other ideas as I can use what I’ve bought on a different project.

Gotcha on that one. Only down side is it’ll be outdoor and there’s a ton of salt in the air living by the ocean. Shit rusts fast here. That in mind you think ball bearings over poly rollers?

Poly would be better. You can make a drawer like a jewelry box just a dado type slide nothing fancy

 

I’m gonna try the slides first then I’ll default back to the wood slide out I originally planned

 

can use a cheapo white plastic cutting board for drawer slides so it doesnt warp with weather
