I agree. I used to go to a chiropractor years ago. I gotta find a good one near me.

Flocked the inside of the band saw box and gave it another coat of Furniture Butter. I think it came out well and my wife loves it. She just requested another to store her earrings in.

Looks much cleaner than my first efforts at flocking. Not trying to be patronizing or condescending or <whatever>. I just know how tricky it can be and disappointed myself some on my first effort.

I took your advice and practiced first. I found that I got the best results when I gave it a good base coat and waited for it to dry. Then I gave it a second even coat of the paint and flocked the sh*t out of it. Waited for it to dry then dumped out the rest.

Base-coat, dry, then the coat to adhere to on a better surface ... I will note that for the future. Learn something new every day if you keep an open mind.

    Again, looks good!

Ahh the key to life summed up in a message about flocking.

Went up to my folks today. My dad passed away in Jan (hence my previous question about a cremation box) and he has a garage full of wood and tools. My grandpa was a woodworker, when he passed my dad got a lot of his tools, and now that my dad passed they go to me. My dad was learning to make musky fishing lures. He has 4 Shop Smiths, one of which was my grandpas. He kept buying Shop Smiths for various attachments and parts, and was trying to set up a few of them for different purposes because he didn't like swapping things around lol.

I have my grandpas Shop Smith at home with table saw, belt sander, and band saw attachments. Now I need to go through all this and figure out what else I would want/need, and then the remaining we will sell. Any shop smith items I should watch for when going through the garage to keep, whether they be parts, attachments, etc.? I know a little about them, but not much yet.

I have a whole stack of rough cut maple to pick through for the cremation box. It will all need to be planed down, but I think thats what I'm going to use for the box. I also have 4 massive beams of unknown wood type that was originally my grandpas (upper right of photo). I want to use those in some way to make something and give it to my grandma.

Use the longer wood sections, branches of a tree. Grandma/Grandpa, your father/uncles/aunts, you/siblings, kids ...

People with laser burners can transfer reasonable facsimiles.

    Just a thought.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my dad 2 January’s ago. Miss him every day. I also came from a shop smith family as well. My inherited unit had a jointer/planer attachment, mortising and tenon attachment, router attachment both which fit on the drill press. Look for the attachments for the lathe including knives if he had any. Manuals, push blocks, guides, and anti kick back fences along with all the chucks, bits, wrenches etc. Perhaps he owned the dust collection system as well???

Man I lost my dad a decade ago (which is still tough to wrap my head around). Lean into those tools and they will carry you though some hard days.

I see the miter guide for your circular saw sitting on the bench on the left side of the garage. Those are nice…you’ll want that for sure. It looks like the lathe tools might be hanging on the wall above the guide???

Man, what a complete shit show of a day today

Still though, wanted to give @wilcam47 credit on this piece he made for me and sent out; the pictures he sent just don't do it justice and since he never posted about it here, I will
