    A zero clearance insert is a must to prevent/minimize chipping and splintering.

    maybe try cutting a score line with a razor blade along the cut line then cutting the desired length on the opposite side. Or try doing one thin at a certain depth on one side then flip it over and cut the line exactly so it doesnt chip out if that makes sense. Are you using a table or an electric hand saw?

    How does the void filler work?

    Mix, apply, dry, and then sand?

    yes sir apply to fill deeper voids to fully seal it to about 1/4 " below surface let it set up then add the blue filler because expensive,then fill over top of that and same deal set up sand an continue project
