Ordered a SawStop PCS 1.75 from Woodcraft this morning. Very excited! They ship to your local store for free then you pick it up. That combined with the SawStop sale brought the price down by $700. Sale prices end on the last day of August if anyone is interested.

Still scrolling along but making some progress and building up a bit of inventory.
These all have to be sanded yet.

    Only 5 Mesquite blanks left.
    20240731_185939.jpg
I have more Mesquite thins I can process but I want to mix the species up a bit. Maybe some maple, ash, walnut, and I think I might have some box elder. It'll give people some variety to choose from.

I hope someone will tell the people how much "love of the craft" went into the product. CPAs and bank tellers do not always understand.

I'm sure the recipient's will appreciate them. It will probably be another week or more before I put them out at church. I'm going to dip them in thinned blo for a finish and that will take awhile to cure.

I am working on a truck bed drawer setup that will go in an open bed while camping but come out the rest of the time. Do any of you have an idea for a finish to use on the outside? It'll be in rain and lots of dust and am hoping for something pretty durable, like truck bed liner. My current idea is oil based poly to seal it then rustoleum truck bed liner over that.

Spar urethane or wrap it in fiberglass cloth and resin.

Thank you both, My first shot at it is going to be spar urethane (I'll probably use that for all the interior stuff too)under bedliner but if that doesnt work I'll try the fiberglass. The outside box is simple to remake if I have to.

I suggest putting on a couple of coats of urethane (lightly sanding between coats).

I wonder how waterproof the bedliner is? I have Rustoleum spray-on bedliner on my bumpers and sliders, and they have not rusted, so it must seal to the surface.

I'm really curious as to how this will hold up. Years ago, I built a storage box on a boat trailer out of plywood. I varnished (urethane) it (not spar varnish), and kept it in my garage. However, after 8 years or so, the top layer of the top, horizontal piece of plywood started splitting, and curling upward. Granted, the finish was not as rugged as what you are going to do - and I got a lot of years out of it. I sold it 4 or 5 years later, never having replaced the plywood. It was still structurally sound (minus the top layer) and did not leak. I have not seen it since, so no idea how it held up.

And I haven't thought about that for many years.

West System Epoxy is a great finish for durability and water proofing, ain’t cheap but really worth it. Kind of a standard in the marine industry. Just my personal opinion

I looked into this but its too expensive for this at the moment, I am not even sure this drawer setup is going to work for me.

I think the aluminum angle will help alot, keep the edges of the plywood from getting chipped and water in the layers.

I built a trailer about 6 years ago. Outside wood was coated with 2 coats of spar urethane. Inside was painted with 2 coats of black rustoleum. It sits outside all year round. The spar urethane is starting to peel of on the edges. The rustoleum is still going strong.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
    Rant. Frustration. Help.

A few years ago I purchased the Bosch RA1171 router table. I'm just finding out it came with the accessory mounting plate.

I.checked the manual, moat Craftsman 1/2" routers will fit. Fantastic, I can use my dad's router. Nope. Holes don't line up. Not even close.

Went to Bosch website (before I new I had the accessory mount plate) and they said the 1617 series is compatible. Found it bundled with dust extractor / guide, standard and plunge base for $90 off. Didn't want to spend that much, but it's something I want to get into. Raid the savings account.

Now it's here, and guess what. It doesn't fit either. Nothing lines up. Not the 3 hole or the four hole pattern.

I need this operational Tuesday as my sister / brother in law are coming in to work.on a project with sentimental value for thier oldest son (in school about an hour from here.)

Aside from drilling new holes, am I missing something here?

Yes. Had to walk away and come back to it.

Ran into a design issue while trying to do some test runs. The mounting plate sits about 1/16" or so below the work surface. Had to add a washer to level it out. Threw on a small quarter round.

    20240801_115017.jpg 20240801_122200.jpg

Then I unplugged it for a minute and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start. Plugging in the correct cord always helps.

Break time. By that I mean house work.
