Lumber for the top squared up and planed to thickness, 1 1/8 thick. Still need to cut to final length. Top is dry fit. Done for today and headed out to soak in the pool for a while.

Also got a new blade. Wanted to see if I could skip the jointer. Worked pretty well. 276C0F28-F8A0-45D9-AE53-7DF799862A46.jpg

I didn't get much done in the shop last week, I was sick with covid again.
Started working on another batch of church logo refrigerator magnets.

And I got the necklaces done and packaged up.
I'm curious to see how they go over at church.
    They will be free also.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Finally finished staining the deck (after adding a side step - WHEN WILL IT STOP! :annoyed:). Took some time to have dinner outside on the bar top and burned some cut-offs and scrap from the garage.

I get an hour or two in the shop after work. I finished cutting out this batch of refrigerator magnets for the church last night.
    20240904_190036.jpg
Next step is remove the patterns with acetone to get the glue off, then sand and drill the holes for the magnets.

Today's project was a little carpentry project.
This is where a door will go.

I gotta frame around this sill plate anchor bolt.
    20240907_112712.jpg
This cross brace has to be removed.
    20240907_112725.jpg
As well as these little shelves.
    20240907_112738.jpg
Good chance to try out a new toy.
    20240907_114120.jpg
It made quick work of it.

Then my Betty brought me a tuna sandwich, she's awesome! She knows once I start a project I don't stop, lol.

Old studs removed and framed in. Short little blocks on the left are just temporary to help me hold the dimension.
    20240907_123536.jpg
Studs removed and top plate screwed to the double top plate.
    20240907_131456.jpg
And the fun part, cutting the opening in the wall.
    20240907_133617.jpg
Then I shot some galvanized ring shank nails through the lap siding to attach it to the new framework.
    20240907_140505.jpg
All shimed in and screws installed to mount the door. Here you can also see I left the lower sill plate in place because the concrete is sloped up and if I removed it the door might no have sat flat and been to low on the outside, that might have allowed water in.

    New view from the outside.

Worked on the coffee table base. It is not glued up or attached yet. Tomorrow? I think that I am just going to attach with pocket screws. Legs are cut at a 10* angle.

    CB2D5F83-8EA0-4139-857E-884021A38987.jpg

I also messed around with possible profiles for the top. I think I am going to go with left side version. Has a nice look and still leaves enough of an edge to resist chipping.

Now I am headed to the pool. It is 103* here today.

Verify the bottom seal on the door frame. When I replaced the front door of my house for selling the bottom seal on the door-part was squashed. Sucks pulling the door in late October just to slide-in a new sweep-seal.

Use these clips to attach the top to the base. It will allow movement without cracking

This door is well sealed all the way around. One of the best new door seals I have ever installed.

I thought about using those Z clips or even figure 8 clips. I have never used them in the past, pocket holes are just so easy and quick. However, this is on of the largest and thickest tops I have ever made, so I just ordered some Z clips and will likely give them a shot. It is pretty dry where I live and the table will be inside, so I don’t anticipate much movement, but why not give something new a try?

Everything is sanded to 220. Waiting for the Z clips and finish to arrived before I glue everything up.

I used my track saw to cut the edge detail on the top. With a little measuring it came out nice and was safe. I really did not want to deal with that big heavy panel on the table saw.

Well the necklaces where a hit at church. Those and the crosses where gone by the end of the service. Started cutting the next batch out, got a dozen cut today. I still have to finish sanding the fridge magnets and get them drilled and the magnets glued in. I've got a lot going on, I never imagined the response I would get on this stuff. It's hard to keep up so it's a good thing. I can only sit at the scroll saw for a couple hours at a time as my back starts to get sore, I do what I can. It's very rewarding in a different way.
