One man’s junk is another man’s treasure! What are you all using for the finish on a trivet? I’m thinking Danish oil.

I have this week off of work, so I stayed up late last night applying finish. The wife is excited about how it turned out. Plants briefly posed for glamor shot. I will give it a couple of days to cure before they get to live there. . I think the living room projects are now done.

The inspiration for the design is clear ... the 45 degree angles in that corner.

    Well, here goes nothing.

That's every big clamp I have, some joined together because 48" length isn't enough.

Everything jointed and table saw trimmed to the same size. I'll get it out tomorrow and see how it turned out.

Ordered the dowel jig pack from Rockler, %20 off and free shipping (first order). Will need the bigger dowels for the next assembly step.

Next up, cut the bigger pieces a little longer than needed and fire up the planer. Might be next week. Too long on the knee today.

    Yeah, clamp envy.

I watch some of these guys online and think "there's $2500 in clamps."

I have the clamps for pipe clamps, just haven't pulled the trigger. Maybe after we move so I don't have to move that as well.

There's a lot of that going around. I like.the guys who don't do that. Bourbon Moth, you know thete won't be a $20 anything, except maybe a plan. Woodworking Junkies seems to a lot in a garage style set up and uses pine, so at least it's a bit more realistic for a lot of folks.

That being said, there are some Bourbon Moth plans I'd like to try.

Tools are just part of the hobby. I have upgraded just about everything that I started with over the years. As far as costs go. I never claim to be able to make thing cheap. I do make them exactly how I want out of whatever wood I want. Lately I feel like, if I am going to spend the time, I may as well make it if a nice species of wood. I went through a lot of pine years ago.

I get my clamps at Harbor Freight and they clamp just like my hand me down Bessie’s.

I agree, I just hesitate a little. I got tired of paying for things that break after a year or two spending more than I would have I'd just bit the bullet. But once cry once.
