Ok woodworkers, I broke down and twisted my own arm to get a 3d printer. And let me say its pretty awesome. I've been running it 12 hours a day printing out all kinds of junk I dont need. Like inserts for my Jessem router lift, and a slick corner routing template. I've got to say its really cool what you can find to print to help in your workshop.

A little progress on the desk and the vision is starting to come together. I still need to bring the walnut down another 1/8" to meet the hickory and still have a little twist in one board.

This is how I think I'm going to edge band it. Sepia sandwich all around and the walnut up to a half inch or so.

Well, it's glued up. Sitting there till probably Friday. Despite the picture, it's actually pretty flat. Most all of the twist came out. The sapeli blocks are no where near flat.

Took the clamps off today and the first thing I checked was did I get it flat.
Yes, but I didn't have my phone.

Sprayed some water on it. And smiled. And got my phone.
    20241026_175101.jpg

And put the level on it.
    20241026_175151.jpg

    Then I smiled some more.

I'll be wiping them down over the next few days to remove any oil that was not absorbed.

That's the plan. It also get's rid of quite a bit of my small oak wood scraps.

Cut to size. 120 on the belt sander followedby 40 in the orbital x2 sides. My Dewalt orbital gave up any dust collection ability so I picked up.the Bosch. So far so good.

Getting ready for church this morning and couldn't help but think how tacky a cardboard box looked for displaying the necklaces.
So I pulled one of my early bowls out of retirement to use as a display. I was still learning and it's kinda thick, good if someone drops it it might not break.
    Box elder, from 2009.

    This looks much nicer.

    Woodworking challenge by my wife:

“honey, I was wondering if you can make this…

    IMG_2797.jpg

    …look like this?”

    IMG_2710.jpg
Me: “can’t I just make a new one? It’ll be a lot easier”

Her: “ No, that would be such a waste and I like the size. It’ll match the other antique Mexican cabinet. Can we just paint it and put drawers in it?”

Me: hmmmm, a paint the pig project. “Ok, I’ll see what I can do.”

    Challenge accepted!
