I have never in my life seen a 6000sqft condo. That is massive.

I've messed around a little. The first two are of a gun cabinet I made, the first thing I ever built totally on my own. We finally had to tear down my great-grandfather's barn, which was about 90 years old. I kept what was in decent shape. I didn't want to take away from the history of this wood, so I left it as is and made this gun cabinet up. Still being rough grade lumber and part of my great-grandfather's barn, I gave it a "rustic" look and the z braces on the doors. The wood was all kind of different species, I guess whatever they had on hand. I can say that the thing is freaking heavy now, lol. I am mostly pleased with it, I just wish I had done a little better with my doors. I thought I did pretty good though, considering that I never took shop in high school or literally did anything like that before. It was also awesome giving 90+ yr old wood a new purpose, rather than trashing it.

I kind of got a bug for building stuff and made lots of other things after that. Coffee tables, end tables, night stands, small tables, desks, etc. I don't have any pictures because that phone got destroyed. I kind of stay towards the rustic/antique looking stuff. Mainly because my cousin runs a local building supply which they run a sawmill out of in the back, so I have the hookup on rough lumber. I love the way the saw marks look in contrast with the grain of the wood. These last two are of a bed I made my girlfriend. Hers was just on a metal frame, so I made this one up for her. I did sand her bed and all other things I've made, I just didn't sand the gun cabinet of my great-grandfather's lumber because it was kind of sentimental and wanted to keep it the way it was. But it's a queen size bed made of all red oak. As you can tell, some of the lumber was more exposed during the drying process. It's not all sanded yet in the first picture. I wish she hadn't wanted such a dark stain, because I love to see the unique grain in each piece of wood, but it needed to match the dark walnut like the rest of her furniture. It doesn't look quite as dark in person and you can see most of the grain. It's not a great picture, but you can see some of the saw marks in the wood. This is definitely the most sturdy bed I have ever been on.

I'm glad I found a new talent and hobby that I love. My stuff is nowhere near the level of yall's stuff, but it has my own unique twist. I would love to get some more tools in the near future to start making some more "finished" looking stuff.

    ^ Wow & Wow. ^

I made this TV stand to match some furniture we bought nude.
4 power tools used: Skill saw, router, sander & drill.
The 47" TV has since been upgraded to a 55".
The top section holds Tivo, DVD player, Bose control unit & front 3 speakers.
Remotes work through the shade cloth covering it.
6 drawers that each hold 4 dozen standard size DVD boxes.
I should have made it bigger since it no longer holds all my DVDs.

That gun cabinet is awesome. I have been wanting to build either a gun rack or cabinet for a long time. I also just designed myself a bed a lot like that to build myself soon. What kind of stain did you use?

I love the rustic look of the bed and would like to build something like that for my cabin - where did you get the plans for it?

Been toying with trying to make a shiftknob. It would be easy with a lathe. But I was thinking of trying with a dremel and a whole lot of hand sanding lol

This is me at work after I finished setting up our 5 head Weinig Gruppie to run a custom ground 5.25" crown with a 60 and 30 degree angle on the edges. I was running 5.75 and about 1 1/16" thick rough finishing at 5.25" and about 3/4". Click the link and I couldn't figure out how to embed it.

Thanks man. The bed was stained with Minwax Dark Walnut.

Thank you. Honestly, I just looked all around at different plans on the internet to get a general idea and then just kind of did my own thing using different ideas from each design. Though I didn't use the exact plans from this site, ana-white.com has some pretty easy plans to follow.

I really Like that color. I really want to build myself a bed frame. I don't have a good area to assemble one though.

x2. What species is it made of, and is it airworthy? Or just artistic?

It is very close to balanced, but not quite. I meant it to be a decorative piece, so it never got a final balance. It is built to the specifications of an airworthy airscrew minus the size. It is a slightly scaled down version of the original. It still stands a little more than 7 feet long. The original is a little over 8 feet long.

The prop is made of 3 different woods. The dark layers are walnut, the light layers on the outer portion are birch, and the center layer is white oak. That is how it was produced in WWI. The layers alternate in grain direction for strength- like this //\\//\\//\\//. There are 7 layers total, each being about 3/4 of an inch thick. A big challenge was trying to find clear straight grained lumber. It took me 5-6 months to hunt down wood good enough for the job. It is finished with clear laquer. It will get a couple more coats this summer.

Ball joint spacers and lift blocks, am I doing it right?
My latest build, all oak. The wood is from my great uncles property in Michigan, ruff cut there and then finished here in Florida. I have since built speaker covers for the openings. I have about 25 - 30 hours in this one, but with three kids and a wife it's spread over 6 months.

I just bought a pretty nice craftsman benchtop type table saw yesterday. Yeah its small, but for the price I paid the guy for it (craigslist) I got an amazing deal. This is a $250 saw I piad $40 for. All functions work flawlessly and the saw is very very clean for being used. I'll take a shot of it tomorrow.

I don't have very many woodworking tools, other than a set of Ryobi hand power tools. So I'm excited to get working with this saw. All I have is a shed and patio to work with, but I'm hoping to start a desk for myself this weekend. The one I have now is way to large. If that works out I will be doing a bed frame and night stand next.
